    It's a tough city.

It's a tough city. The reason to go there is to learn about the Palestinian situation. I stayed in the Old City, which is full of posters featuring local martyrs (who mostly are from this area). Be prepared—this is not like Ramallah or Bethlehem. There's tension.

Walking around was easy and people were helpful.

Walking around was easy and people were helpful. The old city is definitely a place to visit and roam around freely, the soap factories with hundreds of years, must try the fantastic sweets. New university campus is impressive.

The city is ancient, and streets are narrow.

The city is ancient, and streets are narrow. Infrastructure needs are apparent, but the city has restored a 400-year-old hotel and manned it with great staff. We walked three times around the old marketplace, hired a guide or cabs to take us to Jacob's Well, Tell Balata, the Samaritan Village and Mt. Gerizim. Hospitable people, amazing sites. The courtyard of the Khan Alwakala is fabulous for food or visiting.

It is really so beautiful city..in the middle of two mountains.i did not expect to be so amazing.the feeling here is very special and the level of life pretty high in some areas. I felt safe although some considerations I had before I travel. The transportation is very easy as there are shared taxi that you can take from the main taxi station and they are really cheap...at around 0.80 euro for a distance of 6 kilometers...the university is a big surprise I think you should visit it..the people are really polite..
