A good location for a relaxing stay in Vopnafjörður, Ásbrandsstadir Cottage is a holiday home surrounded by views of the lake. This is outstanding and has a nice history. The great grandfather was a postman and his story and photos are presented in a small museum of interest. The cabins and campground are surrounded by nice Icelandic farm views. Two ladies, true musicians, can delight you with their voices and instruments playing. The atmosphere is so friendly...a delight. The cabins are very comfortable and pleasant with good beds, showers....

The place feels far away from everywhere even though it is only a short drive from Vopnafjörður town. The old winding gravel road leading to the farm reminds me of Iceland half a century ago, with random sheep in the field, the odd telephone pole slanting a bit, a couple of plovers chirping away on a grassy sod, and the jolly babble from a river nearby. The house is from 1950's and looks from the outside like an abandoned farm, but it is thoroughly renovated inside and with taste, and a lot more comfortable than farms of that period used to be. All the usual stuff, clean and comfy beds, more kitchen utensils than you could possibly eat, polite and friendly hosts, parking just outside, and the house is spacious, warm and bright. In short, ideal for family and/or nature lovers.

Loved the peaceful location, incredible views, had the whole place to ourselves, amazing chefs kitchen with all the amenities and free to use, breakfast was plentiful, rooms were very warm with underfloor heating, lovely on the feet but almost too warm at night.
