The cruise back in the early morning was magical. Crew were so friendly and helpful. Opportunities for side trip on a small boat and a village massage added interest too.

Just having a one bedroom private boat makes a huge difference and allows you to unwind. The wonderful chef Sureesh treated us to amazing delights for breakfast lunch and dinner and Prince was an amazing captain taking us to the best spots. No request was too big for them and they made sure we had an amazing experience. We were taken to a fish market which was very pricey - and felt pushed to buy fish/prawns. We did buy a kilo of prawns which Suresh cooked deliciously. However the food provided on board was ample and delicious.

The staff was the best part! The navigators and chef were excellent. (Joshy, Sonal and Darwin) Their English was great, the food was amazing, the information they shared about the area was interesting. The boat was clean, there were plenty of clean linens and towels, the fresh juice and snacks were a nice perk. There crew even got a fishing pole for our son. They made our trip absolutely wonderful. The landscape is beautiful, we are so happy we got to experience this.

An exceptional experience! This was an trip to remember for many years. A wonderful landscape and environment in the Kerala Backwaters and the trip on the boat captured all of the beauty and majesty of the area - both the wildlife and the villages, churches and of course the people. The boat was beautifully furnished, with very comfortable bedrooms and an area at the front of the boat to relax and lounge and watch the scenery go by. The food was outstanding prepared by a sympathetic and knowledgeable chef, who was always at hand to discuss the menu for the next meal and to tell us about the cuisine. The crew were unfailingly helpful and courteous. All of this contributed to one of the best holiday trips that we have ever had.

MAHARANI - Beautiful traditional style boat in a peaceful location with local life to view whilst cruising. The ‘Captain’ Manoj and his assistant Geethu together with our chef and Adie who waited on us all day were amazing. We got off the boat and purchased tiger prawns and calamari from the locals en route and our chef cooked these to perfection together with a total ‘banquet’ of delicious local dishes. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Pure decadence and excellent value. Lastly a huge thank you to Alush M (Front office manager) who organised us from instructions to finding the resort to offering us all the services the resort has to offer and ensuring our stay was perfect. Highly recommend this trip!

We loved that the staff gave us the option of having a bigger room for the same price. It was nice and clean. We had read other complaints about houseboats being dirty, but this houseboat is in very good condition. The bed was comfortable (which we have found is an anomaly for most beds in India), and the room was spacious. The bathroom was also clean, and we had read other reviews about bathrooms having a stench and being unclean. We also experienced amazing food on this houseboat; we purchased some fresh prawns, which the chefs cooked for us and it was scrumptious. During some of our downtime while we were cruising on the water, we went to the captain’s area and socialized with the captain and the crew. We also asked if we could get some cooking tips from the chef, which he allowed us to do, and we spent time watching him cook in the kitchen. The entire crew on the ship was cordial, and we enjoyed the extra activity of taking smaller boats down the canals. We highly recommend taking a houseboat with Southern Panorama Houseboat Cruises! 😁
