The room was very clean and the house was amazing, it was a great place to stay. He kindly let me do laundry after all of my clothes got wet in the rain/humidity.

The owners are very kind and bring fresh fruit from the garden to share. You feel like you’re in the nearby national park with all the nature.

Michelle is very responsive, she replies to booking.com messages not just within hours, but sometimes within minutes. She offered to do laundry for me after I came back from a 2-day/1-night Corcovado tour, and I had my clean & dry laundry back 2 hours later. Carlos picked me up from the PJM airstrip (also here, excellent communication with Michelle as my domestic flight was delayed by an hour), then gave me a tour through the town pointing out the most relevant places and even stopping at the Corcovado tour agency where I had booked so I could check in (~12 hours before tour start) while Carlos waited in his car - he also brought me to PJM airstrip after my stay. They both came to my patio one late morning and handed me a fresh mango which I peeled and ate right away, one of the best I’ve ever had. Carlos borrowed me his umbrella two evenings, so I could walk to the town in the rain. From my patio (where I’ve spent most of my time awake), I’ve seen: macaws, toucans, hummingbirds, pelicans, frigate birds, cormorants, vultures, iguanas, crabs, dolphins. And every morning the howler monkeys were my “alarm clock”. I’ve not used the kitchen but it is well equipped with everything you need to cook a meal. “Happy Monkeys” is a 10-min walk from the pier where most Corcovado tours start - very convenient when your tour starts at 5:20am - and max. 15-min walk to all shops & restaurants.

Spacious house, beautiful outdoor area with pool. Master bedroom was really amazing, with a huge area for the rest of the family. Hosts were very friendly and helpful.

This cute little hut is located right in the cozy village of Doz Brazos. Nature is all around around you: If you like that (and don’t mind seeing one or the other bug), you’ll love this place. Animals we saw and heard were chickens, cows, lots of cute dogs and even a Tucan in the distance! And regularly, some hummingbirds visited us while we had breakfast on the terrace. The house itself has a kitchen and a semi-open structure. The walls for example don’t go all the way up, which probably helped the airflow & was the reason why we could sleep without a fan. There were fans in our bedroom & the main room. Our bedroom was lockable from the inside, the other bedroom had a curtain instead of a door, but that would’ve been fine for us as well. Honestly speaking, we were a bit skeptical upon our arrival. But this skepticism quickly went away due to these factors: First of all, because of our hosts. The family lives right next to the hut and was super welcoming, nice and helpful. During our first breakfast, they even brought us a nice welcoming snack! With all the kindness, they still left us plenty of privacy. Another reason were our temporary “flatmates“, another couple that came for a day and moved into the room with the curtain. They were very kind as well & we had some nice conversations on the terrace. Last but definitely not least is the initial reason why we booked this place: Access to the Bolita rainforest trails. Since the owners work at the Bolita rainforest hostel, free access (without any guides) to these beautiful hiking trails through the jungle was granted. Though I imagine, we would’ve seen more animals if we had an Costa Rican with eagle eyes with us! Luckily, Carlos, one of the owners, offers guidance (only Spanish though). Very soon, we felt very comfortable and happy to be in such a remote, authentic & beautiful place (just check out the garden photos!) with so many nice people.

The outdoor shower experience was refreshing and awesome after a sunny/rainy day at the beach. Casa Osa Lion was a wonderful home away home during our stay in Puerto Jiménez. The location is perfect, just a few minutes drive to the town for dining/grocery etc. We came here for whale watching tour with Phoebe, a marine biologist (Changing Tide Tours) and had the best time. We highly recommend!
