This place truly felt like a dream, with a tranquil river, waterfall, luscious greenery and the faint hum of animals and nature. Our stay in the air conditioned treehouse was exceptional, with futons that, while firmer, offered a uniquely comfortable rest. The seclusion of the spot made it feel like a private slice of paradise. The river and waterfall were so serene that I could spend hours simply relaxing on their sun loungers by the edge. There is also a cafe across the river that is run by a wife and husband duo that is only accessible by walking or driving on a path through a scenic rice paddy. It had sushi, pizza, noodles and more that was delicious and worth trying! The lodge also offers a range of riverside activites such as saunas, bike riding, a fire-pit for evening relaxation, and water rafting. The rafting and the peaceful moments floating in the river were core memories from my stay and a must try!

The girl who checked us in was very friendly and had very clear explanations for everything! She really helped us when we were ill-prepared for the Jomon Sugi hike, which we appreciated a lot! There were complimentary welcome drinks and a dessert on the second day which were delicious. The cabin was clean with all the facilities you could need, plus there was a hose in the front yard for you to clean your hiking shoes. The morning view from the deck was also amazing! Note the accommodation is about 15 minutes drive south of Anbo, so it is a bit out of the way of the main attractions, but it wasn't a big deal as we enjoyed the peace.

Hokkoma Aso Private cottage 1棟貸しコテージ南阿蘇, a property with a garden and a terrace, is located in Aso, 35 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto, 45 km from Suizenji Park, as well as 46 km from Hosokawa... Exclusive and charming. The wood fire stove was our entertainment :P Mayumi who manages the cottage and the cafe next to it was gracious and ensured we were comfortable. PS: the breakfast AND christmas stollen were delicious!

The location is a jewel of Japanese history and tradition, but the lodge made our visit feel like home for our short stay. While keeping the original feel of a classical, Japanese house, Okawachiyama LODGE is decorated with comfort, jazz, and eclectic taste. Each chair and sofa has its own unique niche. It's homely, nostalgic, restful, and unique. The owner could not have been more kind. He was there to receive us, help with our bags, and give us some pointers on where to roam in the valley.

Located in Yufu and only 43 km from Crasus Dome Oita, Yamashitako Lodge provides accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. A lovely house in the wilderness! You have your own private Onsen, both inside and outside which was fantastic. Hence we didn’t manage to rent a car we had to go there with bus and then walk 3 km from closest bus stop. When the staff found out they immediately offered to drive us the next morning and stay another hour in the house to correspond with our bus to Beppu. Very kind and considerate young man. Thank you, we appreciate it.

This very comfortable cottage was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. The Japanese style tatami and cushions in the living room with the heater were very comfortable. Appliances worked great to cook for the two of us and overall a great stay!

Providing a garden, 星空に包まれる 森の隠れ家 Amrita Lodge ~stay & retreat~ is situated in the Kirishima-jingu Onsen district of Kirishima, 12 km from Ebino Plateau. The accommodation is very comfortable. The interior items and decorations are exquisite and of high quality, with everything you need. The host is very nice, highly recommended.

Situated 200 metres from Miuda Beach, Tsushima Miuda Pension features accommodation with a garden, a shared lounge and a shared kitchen for your convenience. Tsushima Miuda Pension is located next to the beach and the hot springs. The huts are simple, but comfortable and the shower water pressure is great. The kitchen comes with a cooking plate and a rice cooker, which was very convenient for me.
