Excellent location, just in front of the beach, which is very important for Zanzibar, as you don't want to walk through local's houses to reach the beach, good breakfast, good coffee, staff was really friendly and was trying to help with anything.

I had such a fantastic experience staying at Paje Emerald Escapes! The villas are absolutely beautiful—peaceful, well-designed, and a true slice of paradise. But what truly made the stay unforgettable was the incredible staff. A huge thank you to Leslie, who went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. From arranging airport transfers to organizing tuk-tuk shuttles, she was constantly helpful, professional, and incredibly sweet. Her kindness really made me feel at home. I’d also love to give a special shoutout to Salim for helping me out when a few geckos made their way into the villa. He came over right away, was extremely helpful, and so kind throughout. I would absolutely stay here again—not just for the stunning villas, but because the people here genuinely care. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Paje!

Beautifully built rustic lodge in the middle of a green bush forest with many majestic baobab trees. The monkeys are a little shy but very active in the late afternoon, visiting with us on the main terrace... Absolutely non threatening, just interested. We were lucky enough to see a bush baby who had come to find its dinner just as we were talking about our precious bush baby we had raised ourselves.... Such a wonderful surprise. The bar was well stocked and the food stunning.... Excellent chef who understands seafood. Overall we loved our 2 nights at monkey mountain.... Exactly what we were hoping for.

Will definitely be coming back! Location: the location is quite convenient. It’s right next to the main road going to Paje and 5-10 minutes walk away to the ocean. The building is in Jambiani village which is famous for its sweet, hospitable locals, and great beaches! Supermarkets and shops are all nearby. Check in: Thomas the owner who oversees things personally, was kind enough to arrange for an early check in despite the short notice. He’s easygoing and friendly to deal with. Easy and straightforward process. They accept cards without giving you the looks (many properties in Jambiani don’t happily accept cards). You can use Apple Pay or Samsung Pay. The place itself: this is a brand new building with great finishing. The owner takes pride in his trees and the villa is surrounded by greenery inside it. There’s a pool, kitchen with a big new fridge for guests to store food, shower facilities next to the pool. There’s also a terrace upstairs with huge area for people who wanna have some privacy or do calls or just relax. It offers a nice 360 view of the village on all sides. The rooms: the rooms are quite modern and they are practically designed and equipped with everything you want. The ac was working perfectly and it was a relief in hot afternoons and nights (many properties don’t have ac or it doesn’t work). Really comfy beds (probably the best bed and mattresses I slept on in Zanzibar), a safe which is quite handy, a little desk if you have work, big washroom with great water pressure, everything in the room was brand new and working fine. The internet: I had couple of meetings and was suffering from the poor internet in other proper I. The wifi really saved me. The experience: the owner who was also staying at the property is warm and makes sure to check in on you and see if you need anything (the stay itself, directions, restaurant recommendations, etc.

The „ecohouse“ is a special and hidden treasure on the wonderful compound, very close to the beach in kizimkazi. The lovely style of the old materials in a fresh renovated condition was exactly our taste. Simplicity on its best. Selma is a worm host and the breakfast is close to a garden ceremony with good fruits and enough to eat. The village itself seemed to us peaceful. Tourists are not yet overehelming the traditional lifestyle. The fishermen and the beaching till sunset go well along. We regretted that we couldn’t stay longer.

We chose this accommodation because of the price, the cuisine and the party that takes place here. All our expectations were met. The vibe is much closer to a homestay than a hotel—warm, personal, and welcoming from the moment you arrive. The team deserves a special mention. They are exceptionally well trained, and you can clearly feel the difference in service quality and speed. Compared to many restaurants and stays across Zanzibar, the service here is on another level. A big highlight for me was the cocktails—absolutely top-notch. They easily match the quality you’d expect from a good bar in any major city, which is especially impressive given how challenging access to ice can be in Zanzibar. We stayed here over New Year’s Eve, and it turned out to be one of the best New Year celebrations I’ve ever experienced. Soft live music, a special dance performance by the staff, and a beach BBQ created a magical and intimate atmosphere rather than a loud, commercial party. We didn’t personally go on the fishing trip, but heard excellent feedback from other guests. Since the owners themselves conduct these trips, I can imagine they’re very thoughtfully done and special. The accommodation can arrange everything—from taxis to activities. For excursions, they collaborate with local agents, so those experiences are more standard. If you’re looking for something more exclusive, the fishing trip seems to be the standout option. Overall, Blue Reef is perfect if you’re looking for warmth, great service, excellent food and drinks, and an experience that feels personal rather than touristy. Would happily return and recommend it without hesitation.
