Absolutely amazing with children and still the parents can have a bit of luxury as well. Ski in & ski out location is ideal! On site ski school for small kids is a game changer and the ski instructors are so attentive. Abundance of activities and facilities for children. Lovwly (adults only) spa on the 3rd floor allows for a break from the child friendly rest of the hotel.

A Fantastic Family Ski Holiday at Places by Obertauern! Our recent stay at Places by Obertauern was nothing short of wonderful. This hotel truly caters to all ages and preferences, making it the perfect choice for a family ski holiday. Our son was thrilled with the games room and the PS5s, while our daughter loved relaxing in the cinema with its nightly movie screenings. The top-floor games room, conveniently located next to the rooftop bar, was a hit with the whole family. The DJ on some evenings added a special touch, creating a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere. We also loved sitting outside the rooftop bar under the patio heaters, watching the piste bashers prepare the slopes for the next day – a truly unique experience! The buffet offered a fantastic selection of delicious food, catering to all tastes. A special shout-out must go to Martha in the restaurant. Her hard work and dedication to ensuring our comfort made our stay extra special. We were also incredibly impressed with her extensive wine knowledge and excellent recommendations. She truly elevated our dining experience. The location of Places by Obertauern is ideal for skiing. The slope just a 5-minute walk away provided easy access to the nearest lift after a short ski down. While this particular lift might not be ideal for complete beginners, it suited our family perfectly. Nadia in the ski section was incredibly helpful and made booking lessons a breeze. The hotel reception staff were also excellent. They efficiently handled our lift pass purchases and were incredibly accommodating when we requested a last-minute late checkout. They understood our desire to take advantage of the perfect snow conditions for a final two hours on the slopes before our flight and even arranged our additional lift passes. Their flexibility was much appreciated. Finally, the ski hire shop on the ground floor was incredibly convenient.

Great restaurants, worth booking a table if you're in a larger group and they open later in the evening, like 5-6pm. Various menu options including vegan/vegetarian. On the slopes the bars are playing very loud music but serve quickly so you don't wait too long.

If you want your skiing winter experience to be idyllic, be sure to book a room right here. Hotel on the trail + extraordinary food offer (breakfast, lunch, mid-meal and dinner) + activities and content for the youngest and super-friendly staff will make your annual event unforgettable. The possibility of leaving the hotel directly on the ski lift and already in the first slope to feel the perfect tracks or powder trails, simply magical. Plus, while Obertauern is covered in natural snow, other surrounding ski resorts don't offer nearly as much satisfaction.

Favourite places: the beautiful mountains, lakes around the walking trails, you can do paddle boarding on one of the lakes, free of charge hiring the board and paddle, breathtaking views Binggl Bakery: wide variety of pastries, bread and coffee, great place to have breakfast. Pink Flamingo: Delicious burgers and pizzas, tasty lemonades Freiwild: Friendly and fast service, delicious beef goulash/stew, pesto and mozzarella chicken, Cordon bleu, fresh mixed salad, hommade chocolate mousse, cottage cheese strudel and berries, great elderflower lemonade It is really easy to get around Obertauern with google maps Plan your visit at least for a week in summer, there is so much to do and the place is incredibly laid back and relaxing.

Obertauren is great for snow quality we had a week of snow when most others were struggling. The lifts are fast, new and most feel quite plush, the resort circuit links really well and nearly forms a doughnut around the town, lots of runs end up heading back to somewhere in the town, no particular runs get especially busy at the end of the day. We found some lovely Austrian huts with self and table service with great Austrian food, the Mankei Alm was particularly hospitable. We were staying in a self catering apartment as a family, the only down side was we couldn't find anything to do in the evening, the centre consists of a only a handful of shops, there was no toboggan run open when we were there, no pool, skating or evening activities that we managed to find so if you want to have evening activities for kids or teens maybe book into one of the large Hotels with lots going on. Although this is a purpose built resort it has some charm and feels Austrian, We would certainly ski there again

If you are lucky with the weather and snow conditions, you will enjoy sunshine in the mountains - blue skies and fresh air. Definitely recommend for shorter ski breaks or with small children, as the ski area is not very big and might be too small for experienced skiers/those who whish to explore more/change ski pistes.

The main advantage of the accommodation is its location — after just a few steps, you are truly right on the ski slope. The apartment is decently equipped with everything you need; nothing is missing. A major benefit of the apartment is the two bathrooms and a total of three toilets.

Almost everything. Location is great with ski in ski out, and the boot room is very clean and secure. The breakfast buffet was excellent with many options. The hotel has a ski and boot hire shop in the foyer. The pools are fantastic.
