HungaryThe apartment was absolutely perfect! It was huge and super comfortable, with two bedrooms and a separate bathroom, so there was plenty of space for five people to spread out. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, dishwasher and all the coffee and tea making facilities you could possibly need. Everything is so nice, new and clean. The staff were so kind and helpful with everything, I can't speak highly enough of them.
The pool and sauna were absolutely amazing after a long trip!
Breakfast was an amazing buffet, with something for everyone!

Gorgeous view of mountains, great place for nature-lovers, you can spend there some quality time both in winter & in summer. Hallstatt, Zell am See, Dachstein are only 1 hour drive from Wagrain. Be aware of toll roads & tunnels (above the motorway fee). If you are travelling with kids, they will enjoy the Hermann Maier Freizeitpark in Flachau (ca 15-20 mins drive from Wagrain).
You should check out the opening schedule of supermarkets and restaurants, eg. after 9 PM, you might not find any open places or restaurants could have their own break days.

Wagrain is all about skiing.
Wagrain is all about skiing. If you don't ski, there isn't much to do around Wagrain. Swimming pool opens in the afternoon, so does the skate ring. If you have kids, there is no much other fun things to do. Most of the restaurants open at 5 pm. If your hotel doesn't offer lunch meals, you can only help yourself with snack from the two spar groceries in the village.
The ski bus is great, it runs every 10 min. However, the streets are narrow and it may get quite tight, if you meet a bus while driving.

Wagrain was a good base for many activities in a family summer vacation:
Super close:
- Grafenberg - great views, a big playground for kids
- Jaegersee - a lake with amazing view and a restaurant (I recommend the icecream). There is a short hiking trail around the lake and you can rent boats.
- Flachau indoor waterpark - Not a must, but good for rainy days (can be very crowded)
Up to 1h drive:
- Salzburg
- Lichtensteinklamm - Beautiful but very crowded - I recommend arriving right at opening time
- Gosausee - Beautiful lake also with a hiking trail
- Grollinger waterfall
- Hallstatt - Very crowded so arrive early or don't bother.

The Wagrain card gives you some discounts. You can go to the warm pools for free, and these are great. Kids loved it

Wagrain is amazing, there is much to do in the area.
Wagrain is amazing, there is much to do in the area. Our stay at knappensteig was truly amazing. Thomas the owner is very available and the whole complex is amazing and very clean and comfortable.
We Were there for 7 nights and we wanted to stay longer.
It’s very close to the wasserwelt which the kids really enjoyed. We highly recommend this place.

The location was very good as we could see the whole Wagrain from there. Also, the ease of checking in, the instructions were clear. The Apartment itself was very clean and stylish. the whole apartment interior was wooden. All the necessary things from kitchen utensils till towels in the bathroom, everything was provided. All in all, a very comfortable stay for a family. I would recommend this apartment to anybody who is interested.

We had a great stay at this beautiful hotel. The hotel was very nice and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The pool and sauna were wonderful, with a beautiful view and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. I especially enjoyed spending the whole morning alone at the pool, enjoying the peace and quiet. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone, even to those who do not ski. We would happily come back again.

We spent 5 nights at the hotel and had a wonderful time. The staff was nice, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the facilities were excellent – the kids had a great time at all the playgrounds and attractions. The outdoor pool was relaxing. Breakfast was good, and so was the restaurant.

Normally, Austrian beds are pretty flat and feel like an empty bag of air without much cushioning. But this has to be the best bed, or one of the best that I have had on skiing holiday. In those 9 consecutive years, has to mean something.

The staff were friendly and welcoming.. The room was large with nice views of the town and mountains. The wellness area and small pool were pleasant. The food was excellent. We stayed in the winter months and the ski buses were frequent.
