There is a kettle for tea and coffee maker so tea bags and coffee capsules are given. There is a heated drying rack in the bathroom which can dry towels or laundry. The toiletries are well provided.

NorwaySo happy I found this little hidden gem to spend my night in Ghent. I booked it very last minute, but Annik and Kristof were super friendly and even let me check in early. I really recommend having breakfast here as well, with home made yoghurt and freshly pressed orange juice. The service was amazing, and so much better than staying in a regular hotel. I really had such a lux experience, and Annik and Kristof went above and beyond with making me feel welcome. I still think about it, two weeks after. Thank you, and see you again!

The Gravensteen or 'Castle of the Count' is a deceptively enchanting sight dating back to the Middle Ages. Constructed by Philip of Alsace, the count of Flanders, it's partially surrounded by a moat and beautifully restored, and hosts an interesting museum about the history of prison life.

A lovely town to walk around – we didn't use the trams in the end but they were plenty had we been there longer. It's a pretty centre with lots of great shops for all tastes. The Christmas market is superb and the system of paying a deposit on plates and glasses is brilliantly organised. The castle was fun adventure. There are lots of lovely independent shops and little back streets to explore, a great town for putting away the map for a while and just seeing where you end up.

Great is a wonderful city with lots to do. Fantastic cafes and bars with amazing selection of beers. People are incredibly friendly. Food is great, try one of the friteurs. Only 20 minutes from Brussels by train. Still just about off the tourist trail especially during the week, so not too crowded.

Ghent is similar to Bruges with lovely canals and beautiful old buildings and cobbled streets. It’s much less busy than Bruges though and more ‘arty’ so a great base as Bruges is only 20 mins away on the train. There are still plenty of beautiful buildings to see, fabulous restaurants, chocolate shops and of course beer houses! A visit to the Ghent Altarpiece at St Bavo’s cathedral is a must see as it’s stunning! The museum voor Schone Kunsten is also a lovely gallery. This was my third visit and won’t be my last…..

Well worth the visit as architecture and sense of history was wonderful despite the tourists. Found a beautiful store with handmade wooden scarfs etc. expensive but v high quality of design n wool.
I rarely eat junk food like hamburgers but actually had one of the tastiest right at the burger “emporium” so to speak in the central historic area. It was freezing cold late November, but still worth the visit.

Ghent is a wonderful city, full of history.
Ghent is a wonderful city, full of history. It's easily walkable and has a lively feel, especially given it's a university centre with lots of young people. We found good places to eat. The art gallery is excellent and the Lamb of God altarpiece is outstanding, really worth a visit.

The City centre is beautiful with lots of interesting architecture. A guided tour provided a great overview of the history of Ghent and its buildings which enabled us to then choose which to explore in greater detail the following day.

We stayed at Van der Valk in Gent while travelling through Belgium with a 6 months old baby.
We anxiously chose this hotel for its proximity to major roads and the size of the rooms to make the stay comfortable for both us and our daughter.
It was PERFECT!! The staff was accommodating, the facilities were great. We got help with sterilising bottles and we all had a fab night sleep.
Breakfast was a winner!!

Unique place to stay. It was really a nice experience, but it was also very comfortable and quiet.
Your host, Sven, is the best! He explained everything we needed to know and prepared us a fantastic breakfast.
The location is good to visit Ghent, and in general Ghent is a good place to stay if you want to visit most of Belgium.

This place is magnificent. Probably will return already this year. The house was clean and it had everything necessary for a short stay. The area around the camping is one of the best places in Belgium, however it is quite likely that it will be crowded during the summer.

Fantastic place to stay while in the lovely Ghent (a must-see destination in Belgium - sure Brugge, Antwerp, and Brussels are grand, but Ghent is something else).
