It’s a good launching point for the islands or tours around the region to see Mayan ruins. It’s a safe city, although poor by western standards. I hadn’t traveled in the developing world for awhile and I had to adjust seeing the daily poverty. Beautiful, friendly people and we always had a good meal!

We did not stay in Belize City, but out in Burrell Boom.
We did not stay in Belize City, but out in Burrell Boom. It is a bit out of the way, but very peaceful. Our destination was Punta Gorda, so we used Kenny’s shuttle service to get there. What a great experience, seeing the area on the way, with a bathroom stop half way. Very comfortable trip.

Belize is a country with much to offer, from excellent cuisine and superb beachfront restaurants to wonderful excursions like Old Belize, the Governor's House, and its various museums. It's also the starting point, just an hour away, for Mayan temples, Caribbean beaches, and the Cayes islands, where you can take excursions to explore the marine life of the Great Barrier Reef.

I found Belize City to be welcoming to me.
I found Belize City to be welcoming to me. Citizens of Belize City were friendly and welcoming. Everyone was helpful and pleasant.
I found Belize City Citizens respectful and willing to help when asked.
Street vendors were fair and a few were pushy. The food was excellent in flavor and appearance.
Definitely bring and use mosquito repellent on exposed skin including your face. I forgot to spray hands and wrist after washing my hands. My last day I got 3 mosquito 🦟 bites eating at an outdoor restaurant. Two bites on my right wrist and one bite on my left wrist.
My favorite non alcoholic drink was a frozen watermelon 🍉 daiquiri with jalapeño. Yummy - Luca's, Midtown and Tantino’s restaurants made them very good 😊.

I have to say, Belize City is my least favorite part of...
I have to say, Belize City is my least favorite part of Belize. It's dusty and messy. Maybe I should've dug deeper into everything it can offer, but I only spent a few days there. I prefer all other areas of Belize over the city.

I love the restaurant Celebrity it's close to the Belize Museum on Regent street which was a former prison.
The food is excellent.
It's very easy to get around Belize city by taxi. We paid a taxi 10 BZ dollars to take us from the bus terminal to the Museum that's about 5 US.
I called the chauffeur later on in the afternoon to take us to town and we were dropped at the park in the center of town. We walked around the park and sat on a chair under a tree, we visited the inner stores on Albert street.
What I like about Belize, there are restrooms every where and the people are friendly. You can ask them anything they will help you out. We walked on the market on Saturday, got some hot bread by the bakery and coffee next door. I loved Altun Ha. Our guide was arranged by the guesthouse Casa de Shangri-La.

I felt very welcome at The Cozia. I arrived late and had no way to exchange money because all banks were closed. Mel was understanding and let me pay the next day. There were snacks and water for me upon arrival. The apartment is spacious, clean and with all the necessities. In addition, the apartment is not far from downtown. Mel thinks with you if you have questions. I really had a nice time and would recommend everyone to stay here if you come to Belize City.

Everything you need and more, very clean, safe and cozy. Close to city center and ferry. Great host who keeps you informed on the spot and suggests great places to try.
Appreciated everything and how accommodating host was from the start. Also nice deco with perks as if in a 5 star hotel.
Beautiful intro to Belize.

Close to the ocean. Close to the airport. Super friendly staff. The beach houses are amazing. Boat tours available (hotel has his own boat, starting from there). Good WIFI everywhere on the resort.
