CanadaSpectacular stay - one of the most magical places I've ever stayed overnight. During my visit, we awoke above the clouds to watch the sunrise, and the experience is simply stunning. The room was perfect - comfortable, clean and more tastefully decorated than other mountaintop hotels I visited in Switzerland. Since all food has to be shipped up to the hotel, the quality of dinner far exceeded my expectations and the dining room is beautiful and classic. Staff agreed to an early check-out to allow me to descend on the first funicular run, which I appreciated.

That being said, it’s also one of the most expensive towns I’ve ever been to. All the other places we visited in Switzerland were less expensive. A beautiful city to relax in. I am amazed the population is only 80,000 people! One of the buskers had a super voice and and was playing an unusual zither. Luzern is an ideal base for a holiday in Switzerland. As an historic city it has much to offer, and the setting is idyllic, surrounded by stunning scenery and the expanse of the lake. I loved exploring the old town, the art galleries, and the charm of the Hotel Schweizerhof where I enjoyed a superb breakfast and experienced old world Swiss hospitality at its best.
