We loved the clean and airy house with a relaxed atmosphere, music theme, hardwood floors, and - most of all - the roof terrace with sliding windows and the best view in the town! In hot weather it also helped to cool down the house.
The terrace is actually a breakfast/dining room with dishes, fridges, a kettle and a microwave. It felt wonderful to sit there in the morning and watch the city waking up and at night enjoying the view illuminated with millions of lights. Currently the hotel does not offer breakfast since there are many cafes around. Alternatively you can buy your croissants and help yourself to the free (instant) coffee or tea of the hotel.
I would also like to praise the staff who were always cheerful, friendly and very helpful. We appreciated the opportunity to choose our room and picked a room with the largest bathroom, facing a quiet back street. The rooms were cleaned and towels replaced daily, the shower was excellent and the bed was very comfortable.

Valparaíso is an edgy, colourful city with epic street art. There are a lot of hills, some accessible by funiculars (when they're not closed for maintenance), in general those with mobility challenges should rethink the destination. There are some dodgy areas even by day, The Flats, and as our host warned us, "avoid the stair cases". We were forced to use one (without incident) as the Funicular was not operational.
The best way to see the downtown area is a walking tour, our guide was an exception ambassador for Valparaíso, and the history and tips about where to find eateries, street art, etc. were invaluable.
We stayed in Cerro Alegre, the most picturesque neighbourhood in the city located high above the harbour. There's lots of eateries, small inns, fabulous architecture and plenty colourful murals. If you want to skip the hill you can get there via the El Peral or Reina Victoria elevators / funiculars.
I did a daytrip to Viña del Mar, in my opinion Valparaíso feels much more authentic, a community versus a resort town, Chile unvarnished.

We were in Valparaiso for three nights, and we could have...
We were in Valparaiso for three nights, and we could have spent more time looking over the city. We took a trip around the area in the rental car, and with more time, we could have revisited some of the interesting places we drove through. There is a lot to see along the coast. We found good coffee and tasty food being served at Tallers Cafe, and could have made it our local. We didn't see many of the attractions, as we spent time wandering around the city, looking at the street art.

Valparaiso is bohemian in a rough way, great to stroll around Cerro Alegre and concepcion for a couple of days. A constant smell of human urine and dog shit. ( not so bad in the 2 Cerros mentioned but the rest ....;(.....the lower part of the city is an example when a city is left to decay. One can only imagine the grandeur ( long gone ) of Valpo 100 years ago.

They say you love or hate Valparaiso. The street art and walking is fantastic for those with sturdy hiking legs. You are constantly lost which takes you to surprising new spots. The food and drinks and views from dining terraces is superb

Beautifully restored, tastefully decorated boutique hotel with ample interior and exterior spaces to relax. Walls adorned with eclectic artwork. Impeccably furnished garden terrace. Breakfast was excellent - best we had in Chile. Plentiful fresh fruit, savoury pastries, scrambled eggs, just squeezed juice and great coffee.
Filtered water was provided in the room and available on demand.
Great location. Would definitely stay there again.

The hotel has standard rooms — not too big, but not small either. The bathroom is great and very clean. Excellent location, close to the metro and surrounded by many restaurants and bars. The staff are kind and helpful. They stored our luggage before check-in and after check-out at no extra cost. Overall, a good value for money for anyone visiting Valparaíso.

Great stay in Valparaiso, room was really nice and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was excellent, we loved the homemade Yogurt and Bread. Rene was so kind and helped us with things to do, places to visit and answered all our questions about Chile. Their laundry next door is great too!
