The riverfront walkway and San Antonio are definitely the areas to visit but we also enjoyed an Alameda market food tour to get a sense of a normal neighborhood. One of the highlights was Cristo Rey hill, although that takes a little planning because you have to reserve a timeslot in advance (free) and arrange a taxi or Uber to get there. Salsa is also a highlight and is pretty much everywhere. While in some posts Cali has gets a bad rap for safety, we felt completely safe walking around during the day and on the riverfront and San Antonio at night, of course being aware of our surroundings.

The city has such a vibe.
The city has such a vibe. And i found it much safer than I imagined, but the traffic is a nightmare. Use the Mio - super cheap and efficient - and if you can use the Mio cable car up to Siloe.
Waunana restauant was great. The market (Galeria Alameda) is wonderful, especially for fruit.
Off the beaten path, but the Casa de las Memorias del conflicto y la reconciliación is an amazing space on memorialisation and restoration after this history of conflict in Cali and the Pacific region.
I was there for the Cali Marathon - such a great atmosphere.

Never felt in danger although we didn’t venture on foot to unknown areas. Taxi drivers tend to slightly overcharge or go the longest route. Have your destiantion on your GPS to make sure you know the shortest route. A Small tip is most welcome.

A very gritty town with little of interest outside the historic district, and very little even there. I love all the bakeries outside the downtown area, especially along Pasoancho (Calle 13th) and everywhere in the suburbs. Not on my list of places to go back to.And a taxi driver jiggled his meter at the end of my last trip to the bus station to make it read 50% higher...I caught him.

Cali is super friendly and diverse in its design.
Cali is super friendly and diverse in its design. Barrio San Antonio is beautiful and a must see. Also make sure that you visit Parque de Perros and the park of the cats on the river side. You will find good priced food, La Sirena is highly recommended for seafood, you can find it in the Jardin PLaza mall or , even better, at the Alameda market.

A lot of birds and iguans in the parks. Great Salsa Carneval at Christmas time. Eating out is very cheap, especially during lunch time. Local people were friendly and warned us about special places. The city was full of loud music.

This hotel was a little oasis in Cali. We loved the spacious room, the pool (small but good for a little dip) and most of all the friendly staff. We were also allowed to use their yoga mats and they have a small private patio, which was perfect to do some yoga in the morning. Location was good, we were able to walk to most places but got taxis in the evenings.

The hotel is a gem . The staff are great and I loved the location.
The rooms are clean . the beds are comfortable and breakfast filling.
I will definitely be staying at this hotel again.

The atmosphere when all the local families come out in the evening is brilliant. Real taste of Colombia culture.

The hotel itself is well located, very close to salsa clubs. Cali is a high crime city, so no matter where you are you need to be careful.
