A very beautiful city to visit, very picturesque, with beautiful views, its streets, the plazas, its architecture, its restaurants—especially the Pato de Oro, a very nice restaurant with friendly staff, its location next to the main park, and the food is not expensive. Highly recommended.

Guatapé should absolutely be on your travel bucket list—it’s a destination that offers a mesmerizing blend of natural beauty, culture, and adventure. Nestled in the Colombian Andes, this colorful town is surrounded by breathtaking views of lush green mountains and the shimmering expanse of the Peñol-Guatapé Reservoir. Whether you’re climbing the iconic El Peñol rock for panoramic vistas, strolling through the vibrant streets adorned with ornate zócalos, or gliding across the serene lake on a boat tour, every moment in Guatapé is infused with charm. It’s a place that invites you to slow down, soak in the scenery, and feel genuinely connected to nature and local life.
However, the only negative to say is that many roads are not paved, which is due to the government's and private conflicts, for such a tourist area is a shame to see that. Hopefully it can improve.

Super great local lake getaway vibes. Take a boat tour of the lake (sizes range from a private solo tour up to a big party boat); climb the gigantic rock if you don’t mind the 650 steps up & down; visit the vegan restaurant a couple blocks off the main square; talk to the locals - they’re super friendly!

Guatape is beautiful and the food is 10/10. It’s the complete opposite of the city though so it depends on what vibe you are looking for. I definitely would recommend staying at the Brown’s if you are spending a night or two in Guatape. We went there for dinner and then again to spend the day at the beach club snd it was amazing.

It is a full house and perfect for a family staying for a few days. For us, or anyone staying one night, I would say this. It is difficult to find after dark, but the owner did send a tuk tuk to get us after we couldn't find it.

What a great place to visit.
What a great place to visit. We are coming back to climb Piedre del Penol and spend more time with the friendliest people I've ever met with beautiful zocalos, art, restaurants, I can't say enough good things.

Great location near the centre of Guatape, and also the Malecon walking area alongside the lake.
Our host, Valery, was very helpful and welcoming and made our stay very enjoyable.
Apartment was clean and comfortable, breakfast was served in the apartment at a time convenient to us and we had a choice of fruits, yogurt, eggs, bacon etc

We chose the Presidential Suite as it had a wonderful view over the lake and El Penol in the distance. Waking up in the morning with the 180 degree view was a real treat. The hotel is on the edge of town which means it's quite but just a short, safe walk to the centre.
