Nestled in the picturesque Cocora Valley, the hostel offers stunning views of lush green hills, towering wax palms, and vibrant landscapes that are perfect for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the exceptional staff. Sandra, Hans, Olga, Helena, Óscar, and Mariana went above and beyond to make my visit special. Their warm and friendly demeanor made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. Sandra’s local insights and Hans’s enthusiasm for the area’s natural beauty were invaluable. Olga and Helena were always ready with a smile and helpful advice, ensuring I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Óscar and Mariana added a personal touch with their wonderful recommendations for local eateries and hidden gems around Salento.
The hostel itself is cozy and inviting, with clean and comfortable accommodations that cater to a variety of travelers. The common areas are perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the Cocora Valley, where you can enjoy breathtaking hikes and take in the awe-inspiring scenery.
If you’re planning a trip to Salento, this hostel is a must-stay. The combination of the incredible staff—Sandra, Hans, Olga, Helena, Óscar, and Mariana—and the beautiful surroundings of the Cocora Valley make for an unforgettable experience. I can’t wait to return!

LuxembourgA great experience in Salento thanks to Coffee Tree and especially Karen! I was supposed to stay for 2 days but I extended my stay to more. Several activities are offered by the hostel to meet other people, very warm atmosphere, evening restaurant together, they organize activities for Tejo and Yoga and salsa for free. There's a beautiful view from the hostel and all the staff and especially Karen, are always on hand to answer any questions and organise activities. In short, Salento is a place to stay again, thanks to Coffee Tree, the staff and Karen.

AustraliaWe loved everything about this place! The hotel itself is gorgeous and well kept. The girls at reception speak very good English and helped us with restaurant recommendations and organising a horse riding tour. The breakfast was great and we thought the hot tubs were awesome. We had a massage which was super relaxing. The location is also very good - about a 10 minute walk to the main plaza so it is in a peaceful area.

Beautiful small town nested in the Coffee growing region. Great location to explore around other towns, and the famous Cocora Valley. I am not sure if Salento or Filandia was used as the inspiration for Encanto (the movie). Calle Real in Salento is full of small arts and crafts stores and plenty of restaurants to choose from. We spent 2 night there and thought it was the right amount of time. We ate dinner at El Patio which had live music, good food and service. Had lunch at Casa Willy’s (jeep) great food and good service too. You can walk around and it is very safe. My only recommendation is try not to drive into Salento at night, very dark, narrow road with tons of sharp curves, this drive at night is only for people experienced in driving in Colombia. It is a great town with a lot of vibrancy and energy! The town itself is quite small, but it offers a lot for a 3-to 4-day stay. Numerous restaurants offer excellent food options. The main square is vibrant at night, and it's worth spending a couple of hours there, soaking in the energy and fun. The main street (Calle Real) has great shopping options for tourists. It also has a couple of places that offer great live music. Mirador and the steps leading to the top offer great views of the mountains and the valley. The cócora valley hike is a crazy touristy zoo if you dont go super early. If you like to hike then go counterclockwise and hike up to the hummingbird sanctuary first.
