Litomyšl has a lot to offer not only during the festival of classical music. It is a beautiful hlstorial town set in enchanting countryside. At the same time it has been blessed with inspired elders who have invited excellent modern architects to amplify the charms of the town.
In the neighbourhood I recomend a visit to the chateau and park at Nové Hrady, a rococo gem set in beautiful gardens.

We were visiting out of season and many destinations were...
We were visiting out of season and many destinations were closed, but we still took advantage of the 4-hour tour with the knight Toulovac, visited the regional museum, the church with a lookout and were in the birthplace of Bedřich Smetana. During the season we would have visited the Portmoneum and definitely went on a tour of the castle. On Toulovac Square. I recommend going for lunch to a local eatery.

A historic city that is beautifully maintained, full of cafes, pastry shops and shops. Castle, churches, museums all together, so everywhere on foot, no need for transport. Surprisingly many restaurants for lunch menus. Off season, I recommend visiting the city on weekdays.

The castle in Litomyšl is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and well worth seeing, even though guided tours are not offered in German. However, you will receive a folder with explanations in German. The town center and market square are also very picturesque.

Beautiful historical city, especially monuments and squares. Unfortunately, the overcrowding of the historical square with personal transport and a lot of cars does not give a good impression. It would be good to show the beauty of the square as it is in the full beauty of history, in addition, there are no more options for restaurants in the center, when it is a problem to find a free place at lunchtime.

The birthplace of B. Smetana, the town lives with him. The castle houses his birthplace and a museum, the castle and gardens are under UNESCO protection. The castle is currently being renovated. The town resembles Telč, has a large central square with beautiful old houses with gabled roofs, numerous shops and handicraft workshops, and there are hiking and cycling trails in the area. Pleasant, lively, but at the same time peaceful

If you do not mind 2,5 km to the city center of Litomyšl this pension is ideal. A nice foot way along the river Loučná (a very nice bike path along that pittoresque river even longer, like an "English mini park" on the embankment), or if you have a bike very comfortable 7 min ride to the city! The pension is under the bottomline the best I ever had in Litomyšl, were I spent each year from 2012 to now several weeks. It is a familiar pension with a nice ambiente and support.

A very nice hotel in the center of the town surrounded by historical buildings churches and Castlle.
there is also a very nice restaurant inside the structure with a very nice buffet to have breakfast in the morning

Visibly new and modern apartment. Ideal if you tend to spend a few days in Litomysl and its surroundings. A spa which could be booked for a specific hour is a nice bonus.
