Olomouc is sort of like a mini-Prague: beautiful...
Olomouc is sort of like a mini-Prague: beautiful architecture, squares and parks BUT without the masses of tourists. It's well worth visiting, is easily walkable, and you will not see any crowds.
There are lots of great restaurants, both Czech and international. There are also some great day-trips in the region (fairy tale castles and more...).

Olomouc is big enough to be busy but still small enough to feel friendly and homely.
Olomouc Christmas market was a pleasant contrast to their overcrowded counterparts in Prague. Possible to take time looking at the variety of sales stalls (not just food and drink) while still feeling part of a large community event.
Olomouc is fine as a centre for railway excursions to local and regional towns and cities.

Nice baroque center of the old town.
Nice baroque center of the old town. Easy to walk around and to visit its monuments. The astrinomical clock in the main square provides unique experience every day at 12:00- seeing the figures going around and listening to its music. The gothic cathedral is a must see in Olomutz.

I stayed two days, which was my plan, but the weather was really bad. Lots of rain and wind. In decent weather, this would be a terrific city to explore. In the rain, I had to dodge into (beautiful) churches to keep dry, and to just make sure I wasn't out too much in the bad weather. But be aware that the famous column, for which Olomouc is so well known, is undergoing a complete renovation and is surrounded by scaffolding, so you can't see it. This won't be completed until 2027, unfortunately. But I found some good restaurants, and speaking a bit of Czech really helped me a lot. Only the young have English there.

Nice city, its possible to visit all historical places in one day if u r in hurry, if u want to enjoy the place, its perfect for 2-4 days of staying. Most of these places are closed to each other. Nice and friendly ppl, lovely food, lots of beer to choose from, amazing wine. And prices are really affordable.

Beautiful architecture and lots of historic sites. People are friendly and most shop and restaurant workers speak at least some English. Easy to get around and public transportation is free for anyone 65+!

This wasn’t my first time in Olomouc; I’ve stayed here before, including at one of the best Airbnbs I’ve ever experienced (look around Dolní náměstí if you get the chance). Unfortunately, that place wasn’t available this time, so I booked this apartment instead. It definitely has potential: the bathroom is great, everything is reasonably clean, and the building itself is fine. But there are so many small details that add up, making the whole experience feel confusing, underwhelming, and ultimately not worth the price.

The room was clean and relatively quiet even though facing on the street. The location is perfect. From the train station to the hotel, only 15 mins by tram and 5 mins to the main square of the Olomouc city. Very combinient.
