A good Christmas market but also some nice churches and museums for the size of town. Delightful walk from the hotel to the town centre through a well lit park. Words cannot do justice to the architecture; many 16th and 17th century buildings.

This city is undersold on the tourist trail.
This city is undersold on the tourist trail. There is so much history and aesthetic glory packed into this small but ancient (730 yo) little city. The history that was played out in the Schloss alone would be enough to warrant a visit but the rest of the town is another history lesson, with many of the houses/buildings dating back 500 years. Except for the Karstadt abomination, the Altstadt is a harmonious collection of charming Kraftwerkhäuse (Tudor style houses) with names of owners and other anecdotes and words of wisdom painted on the cross-beams in Altdeutsch (old German). We did a walking tour which I can highly recommend. Our guide really brought the Altstadt alive. The parks and green surrounds make for a lovely escape into nature, including the herb garden. We were four in our group, and each of us felt 2 1/2 days did not do Celle justice, that we would have to return for a second bite of the cherry.
PS The ladies' fashion shops are also wonderful.

Celle has a very pretty old town with beautiful architecture, a beautiful castle surrounded by a park, squares with many bars and restaurant. The best Italian restaurant is at Hotel Althoff Fürstenhof.

Celle is a small town that can be explored in one day (I didn't go check the museums, maybe that would be worth a little longer), but it's very pleasant and has really beautiful architecture to appreciate during the stay. It should be more celebrated for how well preserved it is. It's also a good base if you want to explore the Südheide region and go hiking at the nearby nature park and the heath.

Celle is a great destination for half-timbered homes and the stories of the past for those interested in research of medieval times. The many old town buildings are well preserved and well updated. The town is located in a bit of an Autobahn desert, so be prepared to drive about 30 minutes from the autobahn to get there if traveling by car. There is lots of shopping and many restaurants to keep anyone occupied.

It's alright. Nothing fancy, but a clean and silent room, excellent for an overnight when the miraculous Deutsche Bahn shits itself completely as per usual and hundreds of people are stranded in Celle. The hotel is next to the train station, so you can travel on the next day.
The lady az the reception was extremely helpful, even lended us an iPhone charger.

The location is perfect. You are basically in the center of all things of interest - the castle is next door and the old town welcomes you when you step out of the entrance. The staff is welcoming and really helpful. You can unload your car just in front of the hotel. Breakfast is ample and completely to your satisfaction.

the location is nearby river, friendly personnel. The hotel is in a quite a green corner of Celle, 7 min walk from the centrum. Highly recommended for relaxed time! The breakfast is gut and all is fresh.
