United KingdomWe had a large double bed and a single bed, both very comfortable. Good view from our windows of the river and small park. Our room was spotlessly clean and shiny. Shower was good with quite good space. Breakfast was usual continental, cereals, cheese, meats ,eggs boiled n scrambled, rolls, bread, toast tea n coffee + more. Our room was so quiet, we slept very well. As usual with many cheaper German hotels no coffee facilities in room but available always in reception area. Reception closes at 22.00 but you get in with keycard. The old town (Altstadt) is 3 mins walk away. The town has many beautiful buildings and restaurants in the main square (try Armonia if you like greek food with a German twist, fabulous!). We used the 122 bus from airport straight to Esslingen 2.90 euro Hohneschule stop.

We were running late for the 19:00 check in, emailed them asking if we could be 20 min late and when we arrived they were ready for us and we could go straight to our room. Great value for money. The hotel is a bit dated BUT they definitely look after it as it was all in pristine condition. Felt very comfortable and welcome there.

The breakfast was a traditional German breakfast with very fresh bread rolls, and most importantly, real coffee (which is becoming much less common with the proliferation of self-service coffee machines at hotels. The bar and restaurant are clearly used by locals. which is a good sign. (Staff and customers most friendly, though I had some slight communication difficulties following the local BW accent.

Charming small town close to Stuttgart and a plus for wine lovers! We visited the Kessler wine cellar and Einhorn restaurant (wine cellar) which were excellent. If you are looking for a place to stay while attending the Cannstatter Volksfest or Spring festival at the Wassen then this town has excellent advantages as well. The train station is one exit removed from the Wassen station next to the festival grounds.

We loved Esslingen, it was a beautiful city with friendly people and great food. We walked around the Altstadt and realized just how beautiful it is here. This trip we only planned a stop-over here but we would love to come back.

We went for Christmas mediaeval market which is marvellous. We've also been to Esslingen in the spring too, it's a lovely town with a river and very good places to eat. We can highly recommend Armonia Gastatte, which is very German but does terrific Greek dishes too. We used th bus (122) from Stuttgart airport, it takes about 35 mins, very cheap about 3euros. Train is also good, I think 9euros. Town is very clean and typically German. Houses are beautiful with many having the original oak beams which quite often overhang the street. Much of it dates a long way back with one or two 13th century. Don't forget to look up too, lot of lovely features and one or two suprises.

It is a very beautiful town with a lot of historical buildings, a beautiful small castle and in the middle of a wine region. The white wine there was amazing, and the restaurants make great local food.

Esslingen is a small, medieval town just two S-Bahn or regional train stops from Stuttgart (less than 10 minutes). It's very central to many places you may want to visit in the state of Baden-Wuerttemburg. For me, it made the perfect "home base." The town is small, so quiet and not overly touristy, but big enough to keep you busy wandering the streets of the old town, shopping, eating, and hiking up into the vineyards for a couple of days. Very historic feel with lots of photogenic old buildings and cobblestone streets. Excellent Swabian restaurants as well as a good mix of international cuisines. The opportunities to taste wine and walk in the vineyards and up to the Burg (fort) were an added bonus.

Very good central location, without any major traffic noise. Short walk to the very pretty old town and train station. No onsite parking but public parking nearby. Esslingen is ideally located for exploring Stuttgart and the surrounding area.

The location was immediately opposite the railway station so ideal for travel into Esslingen and Stuttgart. The room was spacious and it had a fabulous shower! Plenty of choice for breakfast. Car parking on site.
