Since the city was completely bombed during WW2, it’s not filled with historical landmarks and old buildings. There are definitely nicer cities around Bodensee. If you’re choosing Bodensee as your final destination, FN shouldn’t be the town to go.

This is a key hub on Lake Constanz and the home of the Graf Zeppelin, thus the great museum. It is an excellent place to base a visit to other towns and sites on Lake Constance whether by ferry, train or bus (and we did all three). Best of all it is not overrun by tourists

Lovely city, I will for sure go back (and likely tour the whole lake).
Only downside is to get there: roads were packed as hell, with lots of traffic jams. Much like the Italian lakes.

Beautiful setting with Lake Constance as natural attraction, coupled with the annual AERO Friedrichshafen airshow it is an excellent place to visit for both business and leisure travelers. The only "challenge" is the last miles of getting there. Because it is not a first-tier city, flight connection for the international travelers into FDH is not easy, one must either drive or take a train or ferry by flying to a nearby first-tier city. Perhaps better arrangements can be made, especially during the AERO or other major global events.

The town was in a hibernation in February. Meaning lots of places were closed. The place is mostly visited by German tourists because the people in the town aren't speaking very well the English language. Thanks to my wife that could understand a bit of German and to the people that were very understandable to our broken German language, we've managed to find a way of communication.
The prices - are pricey. Touristic place of course.
The town was clean, and near Switzerland and Austria which we visited of course.
We've loved that in the restaurants the cooks were adjusting our chosen dish in order to fit it to our keto diet. This means a lot when the restaurants are flexible to each customer.
Friedrichshafen is meant to be visited in the warm season, not the cold one due to the extremely clean lake Constance where you can swim and rest. We have visited in the cold season because we needed a place to stay near Switzerland and Austria and Bavaria of course. We have traveled by car which offered us the opportunity in a week to visit lots of places like Black Forest, Neuschwanstein castle, Munchen, Wuertzburg, Rottenburg ob de Tauber, Meersburg, Lindau, Neuhausen am Rheinfall in Switzerland, and Pfänder mountain in Austria. Hope this recommendation will help other travelers.

The apartment was lovely and we enjoyed staying there however th access stairs had a terrible odour but pnce inside the aparent the smell was gone. If the owner would do something about the odour the apartment would be perfect.

|Hotel was modern but I found it lovely. There was a great breakfast and car park. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to Lake Bodensee from where people could venture further afield. The morning staff were very helpful and spoke excellent english. The hotel is also a 20 minute walk to the Zepellin Museum but most of the walk is along the banks of the lake so didnt feel a long walk. I would happily go back fopr a longer stay to explore the area.

Hotel is very nicely located. My room was for one so without any good view out of the window, but since I was staying just for one night, it wasn’t nearly as important. Included breakfast was convenient. Definitely can recommended for the price.
