United KingdomMy son and I were completing the Malerweg and decided to finish Day 7 at Stadt Wehlen (Completing stage 7 and part of stage 8). Kurort Rathen is a short train ride from Stadt Wehlen (Free if you have the Gastkarte), and then a ferry ride across the Rhine. We arrived late in the evening (after the restaurant had closed) and as we were booked for half-board, the staff had provided two lovely salads which were waiting for us in our room. We received a very warm welcome when we eventually arrived. The room was clean and comfortable. I really liked the swimming pool, and great breakfast. If I had known how good the hotel was I would have extended Day 1 on the outward trek and stayed here (Just a short distance off route), and then returned on Day 7. Lovely hotel, thoroughly recommended.

It Felt like all the furnishings, all the facilities and all the service had been organised with the Comfort and enjoyment of the customers in mind - from the windscreen scrapers in the Lobby to help clean the car from the fallen Snow to the device / book holder by the Side of the bed to the reward System for not requiring housekeeping every day when not strictly necessary and of course the incredibly efficient , professional and friendly members of staff.
We absolutely loved it !!! Thank you, Sennerhuette Landhotel! We will certainly be back! :-)

It's an excellent hiking place, recommended for families with children, dogs - especially during the weekdays when you can enjoy the quiet beauty of nature. The Elba is beautiful, there are nice walking/ cycling routes all around, the top of the hill is half an hour walk, sunsets/sunrises are stunning.

Loved the quaint little town with access to such beautiful nature. The Bastei route gets really busy so the earlier you go, the better. The Bastei bridge is not the only beautiful route in the area though and its definitely worth it to explore the other routes more. Personally I loved the approach via the Swedish holes more. Also walk along the river past the route that goes up to Lillienstein, beautiful views with a scenic walk.
Restaurants in the area can be pricey but the Imbiss is a good option. We did self catering and was able to buy a few basic supplies for soup from the town shop and a few goodies for breakfast.
We stayed for 4 nights but would definitely recommend more to explore the area and in summer partake in more activities.

Great hotel is very cozy, just at the start of all tracking routes. The room is spacey, the beds are really comfortable. The swimming pool is quite big and clean. The staff is very friendly, we have arrived later than expected and were late for dinner, so they have saved the dinner for us and serve it in the room! The food is great both for breakfast and for dinner.

The hotel,the facilities were great!The view of the surroundings amazing!
Just the food wasn't equivalent to the facilities and the money paid fir that.Sweets were not included in the buffet.You had to pay for them separately,which I think is rather cheapy!!!!In general it s a good hotel 😀!

Comfortable room with plenty of windows and views (of the town, not the mountains). Fan included with the room, helping a lot for keeping the room cool.
Excellent access for hiking.
Good breakfast and decent food in the hotel restaurant overall.

Amazing Hotel in the Mountains with great structure. Staff was super empathetic and supported us with our Special Date. Enjoyed our stay In a great apartment. Food was very delicious and breakfast complete. Close to the train station and Bastei.
