TurkeyI absolutely enjoyed my stay at Dolty Kato Nubian House. Located at the very heart of the Nubian village, this hotel has exceeded my expectations by all metrics. The staff was very attentive to my needs (special shout-out to Ms. Somaya at the reception and Mr. Sameer the manager) and was reachable 7/24. If you want a tour to Abu Simbel, or an authentic massage, or a boat trip, they will arrange it for you in a few minutes.
The view from the rooms are amazing, they are right on the Nile. To sip my morning coffee while watching the boats on the Nile was a great experience. The food they serve was also quite authentic (Nubian cuisine) and tasty. Overall, it was worth the every penny I spent there.

We had a great time at Aswan, and visited both Philae Temple and Abu Simbel, which are beautiful embodied with rich history. There are several excellent choices of local Egyptian food. Tilapia from Lake Nassau was very tasty!

Aswan is less of a tourist town than Luxor or Giza, but the vibe is still there - mainly centred around the dams, Temple of Philae and short or long boat trips.
However, if you stay at a guesthouse on Elephantine Island, you can find lovely hosts, good food and compelling views which together make a compelling case to spend more time here relaxing, rather than just seeing the sights.

Aswan has a very different feel to Cairo and Luxor.
Aswan has a very different feel to Cairo and Luxor. It operates on a much slower pace. Less hassle in the markets and on the roads. The islands, especially Elephantine Island, are wonderful and unique to visit. Try Makka Restaurant by the train station for simply excellent local food.

David's service was very good, including various car pick-up services, help to participate in various tourist projects in Aswan, Philae Temple, Abu Simbel Temple, Unknown Obelisk, Rubia Village, Nile Sailing Tour, etc., free breakfast, very good, we hope to stay again next time!

We spent a lot of our time just enjoying Elephantine island, which is quite, safe, and very relaxing, compared to much of the rest of what we experienced in Egypt. There is certainly enough to explore in Aswan that one could easily spend several days.

Allow at least 2 full days for Aswan region. It s a great stopover for a break after the madness of the tourist sites. The Nubian village ( with the colored walls, where all the motor boats end up) on the other side of the town has been a place where i could have made local friends if I stayed longer. Of course the money making is also there in the mindset, and it s over touristic but you experience the vib of a local village if you stay overnight there. I suggest Ekadolli guesthouse for location outside the touristic area, still close enough to the village, up a hill offering nice view at the Nil. Nebro Guesthouse is better if you wish to wake up right beside the river, in the heart of the village but quiet enough.

This property was the best property I have stayed in travelling all over Egypt and JJ was the best host. The breakfast was the best breakfast I have had in Egypt by a long shot and I’ve had some decent ones. The rooms were extremely clean, well kept and very nice in general. The view from the rooms and terrace was beautiful. The ferry from the mainland of Aswan is only 25 EGP so well worth staying on the island where it’s a bit quieter and you don’t get hassled. I would very highly recommend this accommodation.

Best time we had in Egypt!! The location is perfect, far enough from the business of Aswan, but only a couple minutes away by public ferry shared with locals. The hotel is comfortable, the view on the Nile from the rooftop is spectacular day and night. The staff is the secret of the place, very friendly and welcoming, they know the history of Aswan, and gave us suggestions for sightseeing. Breakfast was also delicious, Nubian style. A special thank you to Mohammad who made our stay so special!

Amazing location overlooking the Nile sailing boats crossing in front of the city and Old Cataract hotel.
You can not have a better view from the beautiful terras.
Room was bright, spotless clean, love cotton sheets.
Comfortable bed.
The owner was very helpful, received us by the ferry and carried our luggage.
He advised us about a nice restaurant with a good view.

Felt like home with 5 star service. Definitely the best place I stayed in Egypt and one of the best places I have stayed anywhere and I’ve travelled a lot! The staff, the location, the Nubian style room, the food, the pure, cool river Nile and the Philae temple - all absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend this place. I will be back!

Quality of small hotels in Egypt are so far away from european standards, so it was a really nice surprise to find this gem in Aswan region. Clean, good service, peculiar decoration and excellent view to river..A must to have half board ( delicious lunch) and to taste the nunbian coffee..thanks
