The place is in a remote location in the calm waters, facing the Philae Temple. Room feels like a highly comfortable house in a dream village. Spa facilities are amazing, I would highly recommend the Egyptian hot stamp massage of Mrs. Zainab. The staff is super kind, joyous and peaceful, Mr. Shoum from the restaurant, making my check-out breakfast box with a fresh mango juice ready in a blink of an eye, Mrs. Merna and Mr. Joseph in the front desk being very helpful, upgrading my room to a jakuzi room, solving all my requests in minutes and, Mr. Besim delivering me my necklaces (that I realized that I forgot in my bathrobe’s pocket in the airport) in a speedy way right to the airport, all unforgettable… With the elegantly natural interior and exterior design in breeze of basil Ben Ben by Dhara is an oasis for Egyptian tourism.
Because the place takes place in the lower dam you need to reach there by taxi and take the hotel’s boat waiting in the dock, but it’s worth the distance. I’d highly recommend, do not hesitate.

The place is a perfect getaway away from the hustle and bustle of Aswan (and much needed). The pool is nice and the atmosphere is lovely. You can swim in the Nile too! The manager upgraded our room free of charge and provided takeaway breakfasts for us when we had to leave at 4am for a flight. Would 100% recommend if you have a few days and want to relax. Best place to stay in the area hands down.

The owner was very (very!) friendly and everyone was so kind and welcoming. The buffet breakfast was really nice too, and the location is nice and chilled by the river. This hotel though is not close to Aswan, so you will need to take boats/cars to get into Aswan and some of the nearby sights. Transport options are limited, but other than this, the place was very nice to stay at, I had a wonderful time!

I love all of it! The location is perfect, the house is just beautiful with all the nice colors and paintings and amazing views to the Nile. I stayed in a very comfortable and big room with a small balcony. The staff is very friendly and helpful specially Aya and Tamer. And Tamer even speaks a bit of Spanish which is not common in Egypt. The breakfast is amazing as well as the Egyptian food options available if you want to have lunch or dinner. It is very nice to walk around the streets of the Nubian village and there is a local market very close where you can find lots of nice things.

Unlike Cairo, Aswan is much slower paced and people are much nicer. The city has several historical sites, temples, and islands. The views and food are amazing. I’m skipping Cairo on my next trip to Egypt and coming straight to Aswan and Luxor.

Tombs of the Nobles were really neat if you can make it over to the other bank. Watch out for the camel guys there though. We got roped into $50 camel rides.
Aswan was probably our least favorite stop in Egypt. Harassment by salespeople was higher here than at the Great Pyramids, and much higher than Luxor! We couldn't walk anywhere at anytime of the day without a salesperson walking with us for several blocks. And as soon as they were done, someone else would take over. Its too bad, I think the corniche could be a really pretty walk!

Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
I didn’t realize that the hotel was undergoing a little construction. It looked like they were upgrading their ramp. This meant we had to carry our bags up the stairs to the lobby.
The property is beautiful and has a terrific view of the town and we could see the Nile from our room. The restaurant was very good- we had dinner there.
BTW the construction noise never bothered us. We couldn’t hear it at all.

If you are doing the Initiatic path, Elephantine Island is so perfect. We stayed at Mango Tree (feel like exotic move stars) and Nubian Dreams (also a restaurant but we scored their top floor room and that is super fun) We also stayed at Nubian Palace, oh my gosh. Take a little private ferry and go to that place. Its so memorable. Philae temple was set up from our host at Nubian Palace (which we usually never do but she is a badass and handles it so you don't have to negotiate to and from the ferry marina) Stay on the west bank. Never the east. Its so loud and full of hustle. The west bank is like real Egypt. Lovely. Easy to start the temple path to Abu Simbel by hopping on a local large bus. Fun, cheap, easy. (Its a little more coming back but its all very cheap so be nice and accept the system) From here you can take a train, bus or private taxi to Kom Ombo and Edfu as you make your way to Luxor. (ALSO STAY ON THE WEST BANK in luxor) What a lovely quiet and profoundly spiritual adventure.
Enjoyed a fantastic stay at a hotel with friendly staff, particularly Kareem, who fulfilled all our requests with a smile. The rooms were clean. The terrace restaurant offered affordable, fresh local cuisine and shisha. We really enjoyed it!
The well-planned Abu Simbel Temple tour included an early breakfast meal box, allowing us to avoid crowds and explore leisurely.
Overall, a delightful experience in Aswan thanks to the hotel's excellent service and thoughtful arrangements. Highly recommended!
Good location. Lovely decorations and room is quite new with good view to Nile river with balcony. Service is exceptional, over our expectations at first. Good stop to stay and discover Aswan after some discoveries with long walking in Cairo since the hotel is very quite and made us feel very peaceful with good sleep. Can book boat tour directly from hotel too with reasionable price. Besides, love the hotel's staff and manager, all is super duper supportive.
Staff were extremely polite and helpful. Especially thanks to Ahmed, we could spend great time there. The guest house is located in the heart of Nubian Village, people are great. Very clean and cute rooms. Good value for a cost efficient trip. But the greatest part was the breakfast. It was humble but the best, especially comparing similar hotels and guest houses in Egypt. We will always remember this cute village and Lawanda Nubian House. Thank you!
This hotel is a jewel. Beautiful paintings, sense of detail, quiet and clean room, splendid terrace (i stayed hours gazing on it), and most of all, lovely staff. Saïda, the manager, is exceptionnal ; worth a 5 stars prestation.
Elephantine Island is nice to wander around Aswan. But to chill and gaze, Nubian village is way beyond in my opinion. I could seriously consider to spend an entire week in it, with a proper fruit shop !
Clean place, friendly host, flexible arrangement, with foid on site to buy. Location is great, safe. Close to a fantastic restaurant. Near a great 5 star hotel for a fancy night out. It is quiet at night. Wifi is great. Deko is also gratefully extended my stay to more nights. Cleaning stuff are diligent. Nice view over the Niles,. A 5 pound ferry from the center of Aswan. Few min walk from the ferry.
It is located in the most peaceful place of Aswan, especially if you want a getaway from the business of the city,it is a great stay with the most friendly people in Egypt. i was welcomed with many positive vibes, the guesthouse owner even arranged a late night dinner of great taste and a carry–on breakfast for my early tour at 4 AM. If i would go back to Aswan , this is the sole place to stay.
Beautiful location in the heart of Aswan. Wonderful hotel with very attentive and caring staff. Everyone from the management to the cooking staff made you feel very welcome and genuinely happy to see you. We loved the staff everywhere especially Ahmed-Khalaf in the dining area who brought us special food every night and French fries for my 10 year old. we loved every minute of our stay there.
The Basma Hotel is a charming/historical hotel in Aswan. It's beautiful property sit in the heart of the city with great room views overlooking the city. I'm much impressed with Rehma - the Customer Service Manager of Basma Hotel. She took care of our needs before coming to the property and during our stay. I always tell people, what makes a hotel experience great is having 'great' staff.
Staff especially Reko is very friend and help with everything such as your or text booking but there’s always room for negotiation. The best thing about the guest house is the view, I see Nile from my window. it’s located in elephantine island which means you will need to prepare 5 Egyptian pounds each time for ferry but it runs every 3-5 min so it’s not an issue.
We are well travelled middle aged couple. The hotel had one of the best views. We stayed in a Nile ile view suite.
The suite had the most beautiful bathroom and spacious, and the view of the Aswan nile view.
The pool area has the best view and the staff around the pool and the restaurants were wonderful.
Not the same for the female reception staff.
We spent 1 night at the hotel and it was magnificent, everything was extremely perfect, view, food, hospitality, and cleanliness .. the stuff is very good specially Ahmed and Mohamed they are funny and helpful, they brought us boat with a good price to take us to Aswan, it was really good experience, exactly like what we expected.
Amazing view from the terrace on Aswan and the Nile. Also the staff was very friendly and helpful: Our request for a late checkout was no problem. The room was nice with a comfortable king-size bed. The room was satisfyingly clean. The breakfast was amazing though you have to go downstairs to the "regular" Basma hotel.
I was a little shocked to learn our hotel was on an actual island. I loved the little boat ride to get there. The hotel was exceptional. Clean. Great breakfast. Nicer than I would have imagined especially for the price. I wish we stayed longer and I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to Aswan.
I visted Basma Hotel with my father. The warm hospitality of the staff who were attentive to all our needs and attention to details was superb. Our meals were servrd on time and the food was delicious. They also helped me book the ticket to Cairo. I'm defenitely visiting again 😍. Thank you Basma Team.
Saif is a great man, he is more than a hotel owner. He arranged everything for us like Hurghada Airport transfer to Aswan (it is really difficult to arrange in Egypt), Abu Simbel Temple tour. He made our difficult tour easier. Thank you so much, Saif. You are really great man
Amazing view from the new wing of the hotel, rooms are very big with a comfortable bed. Very clean and it has all the amenities you can expect from a 5 starts hotel. Breakfast is served in the stunning room of the 1902 restaurant which was really good.
Having guest relations answering messages and fixing issues 24h is definitely 5 star service
Everybody in the hotel was very helpful throughout our stay and tried their best to make it special for us.
We definitely had a good time and can recommend
The staff were very friendly, kind and helpful. The hotel and room are very simple to stay short trip in Aswan. The restaurant is at the 6th floor, so the view was so wonderful.
