I had a wonderful stay at the Wilderness Hotel (Inari) and...
I had a wonderful stay at the Wilderness Hotel (Inari) and would highly recommend it, especially to solo female travelers. From the moment I arrived, the reception staff were warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. They were happy to share local insights, activity suggestions, and practical tips, which made my stay feel both easy and well-supported.
The breakfast/dinner buffet was a real highlight, offering a generous selection of fresh, high-quality options in a relaxed and inviting setting. It was the perfect way to start/end the day.
The facilities were clean, comfortable, and very well maintained, with a strong sense of calm and care throughout the property. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe and at ease at all times — the atmosphere was welcoming without being intrusive, and the hotel struck a great balance between comfort and simplicity.
The staff/guides (Mikko/Reeta/Inga/David/Sofia/Julia - to name a few) were all amazing ensuring everyone (especially for the activities) experienced their own level of satisfaction as a whole group, without compromising any one person's experience. They calmly and patiently answered questions and went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a high quality experience.
I was lucky enough to experience the Auroras two nights in a row during the Aurora Camp and Snowshoeing activities!
Overall, a lovely experience with attentive service, excellent amenities, and well maintained environment - I'm planning to come back during the summer!

Inari is a little place, surrounded by amazing forests and...
Inari is a little place, surrounded by amazing forests and lakes. It is certainly a must if you want to get to know Saami culture better. It also perfectly fits for those, who like nature and long walks. Although it is small, you can find pretty many activities there - from taking a boat trip in Inari lake in the summer period, to visiting Side museum and doing northern light hunting in winter. PaPaNa pub is also a must to visit.

We went at end of March, still plenty of snow and the lake...
We went at end of March, still plenty of snow and the lake is completely frozen but temperatures around 0. Was ideal for the kids who spent days in the snow! We saw the northern lights (had to stay up till 2am for a very lucky gap in the clouds but was worth it). The Sami museum there is excellent and we did some guided tours, was fascinating to see the Sami culture and way of life past and present.

Great place to visit, i think a lot of people just go to Rovaniemi to see the lights and do activities etc and it too is a great location, but Inari had a more small town vibe and better cultural information. I especially loved visiting The Sámi Museum. Go to both places :)

There is a fantastic Saami museum - Siida with big indoor and outdoor exhibition. From here you can go for a hike to Otsamo hill and Pielpajarvi wooden church.
In summer you can also go on a cruise around lake Inari.
There are also local companies offering activities like husky sleeging or fishing.

We went on a snowmobiling trip and a dog sledding trip. We liked both but really enjoyed the dog sledding more. The cabins on the lake at night, when the northern lights came out, were perfect. Yes it was cold but we could go in an out of the cabins and take pictures as the northern lights waxed and waned. Truly a fabulous adventure that cannot be replicated at a hotel.

Great hotel, clean rooms, private sauna, nice breakfast and restaurant. Staff on every position was very warm and helpful. Also free and easy parking. Location of the hotel on the lake is perfect and you can also have a great view from the restaurant. Definitely would recommend.!

We loved our stay at the hotel. The room was huge and very new. We had a nice view on the river and a big TV in our room. The breakfast was very good and the whole staff was friendly. We ate dinner at the restaurant and it was fantastic. Totally recommend this place!

Easy check in, location very secluded and opposite a lake, owner has prepared tons of facilities that are ready available to use including camp fires and snow sledding if one is interested. Sauna was amazing. Would visit again if travelling to Inari.
