FinlandThis is my favourite hotel in Oulu. It's spacious, easy parking and good location. Especially the quality and variety of gluten free products at breakfast is better than in other hotels and I've been to many of them. No cardboard and styrofoam in this one.
The overall quality of everything is very good, including the bedding, beds are really comfortable in all room categories, I've been to standard rooms and suites. It's worth taking a bit more expensive room from here than a cheaper one from some other hotel, for the over all experience.

By the time I reached the hotel it was very late and all the restaurants around work closed. Staff help me to get some hot chocolate from the beverages available at the reception. Not a big city, but the city centre is compact, everything can be found within walking distances. All the necessary services, a shopping centre, train station, airport and other services. Also a very nice beach outside the city centre.
Would need more accommodation and for fair prices, right now not enough capacity and hotels are quite expensive.

Everything is super easy to reach by bicycle.
Everything is super easy to reach by bicycle. The centre of Oulu is far from ideal for inline skates due to the amount of cobbled streets. However, skating longer distances outside the very centre of the city works much better. There are also many improvement actions for cycling and walking paths during the summer 2024 which makes skating during the upgrades at times tricky. There aren't too many museums to visit - some are under renovation.

It was a working travel with the purpose to meet cultural institutions and actors. We did not have time to explore Oulu as tourists, and it is really sad. But the cultural scene seems to be really rich and interesting. Visiting Valve cultural center was a discovery for us. It is a place, where cultural actors are concentrated. Dinner and a jazz concert by University students at Mallassauna restaurant was an amazing experience. And early breakfast in MAKIA Cafe - a very nice inclusive place, made the beginning of the day just wonderful.

I was only for one night, during my motorcycle trip.
I was only for one night, during my motorcycle trip. I was looking place to sleep and rest after 700km driving in the rain. And that apartment made my day with sauna inside. Regarding city I do not have any feeling to share.

I had a business trip there in the last week of May.
I had a business trip there in the last week of May. The weather was good and it should be the warmest week in Oulu (around 15-20 'C). Oulu is a small city and most of the shops and restaurants are located in the city centre. One can drive (or take bus) to those parks, the scenes are extremely beautiful. The food is good especially the Salmon soup and Reindeer steak/tongue.
Also, for visiting the Santa Claus village, one can stay in Oulu and take train to Rovaniemi (~2.5 hours).

Everything! The friendly staff, the room with the sauna, the Christmas Eve buffet, the Christmas Day surprise menu - the whole atmosphere is fantastic. Not on the cheap side, obviously, you have to save up for it - but it's absolutely worth it! After 2018 this was our second stay in Lapland Hotels Oulu, and I am quite sure it wasn't our last one ... thank you all for a lovely holiday! You are all amazing!
