There is a book with lots of information about where to eat etc. We enjoyed a lovely swim on our return from a day out, which was very welcoming. Key was in a lock box with a code, easy to collect and access the house, parking off the road was nice. Close to supermarket and town.

Avallon is an attractive market town in northern Burgundy. It is immersed in beautiful countryside, and is of a manageable size for walking around, sampling the shops, cafes, and restaurants, and enjoying the Burgundian architecture. It is quiet in May. It can be a nice base for a few days to adventure to nearby sites such as Vezelay and the Bazoche chateau.
