We had booked a room at Lansdown Grove hotel for one night, but we were so happy with the size of the room and the city view that we had, that we extended our stay and added a day in Bath to our trip. Our room was not available for the next night, but we got an even bigger and nicer room on the same floor. Everything was up to par, the hotel staff was super nice, everything was clean and tastefully decorated. The parking spaces by the hotel were full, but we parked on the street where we could park for free in the street by the hotel from 7pm - 8am. We walked to the centre of Bath in the evenings which took us about 10 minutes downhill, but 15 minutes uphill, as it is pretty steep.

FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Bath is the most beautiful city especially.

Bath is the most beautiful city especially. In the run up to Christmas when the Bath Christmas Market is on. Full of interest and beautiful buildings. The local council provides excellent support, emptying bins, providing security for the market, cleaning the streets. It feels safe and well cared for with a beautiful tree and decorations. The shopper carol services in the Abbey on Saturdays are a delight.

Definitely book the Roman Baths and do the guided tour! So informative. I learnt so much and the best bit is that you can stay on and go back into the museum and see bits that the tour guide told you about!. Go to The Herd restaurant. The steak is AMAZING! Christmas market is always a must. Was so lovely seeing all the stalls out and was lucky enough to go the Carol concert! Also done the walking tour of Bath. Really interesting and you will learn a lot about the history of Bath. Love all the beautiful shops. Always find something unique there. Make sure to walk down all the little side roads as you will find hidden shops and restaurants. You won’t go hungry. Bath never disappoints!

The Roseate Villa Bath is a beautiful, boutique-style accommodation in a tranquil garden setting. We received personalised service and attention to detail, a warm welcome and the little extras like afternoon tea and homemade treats. The location is also a plus, situated within easy walking distance to the city centre and main attractions like the Roman Baths. The rooms are spacious, stylishly decorated, and very comfortable, contributing to an overall luxurious experience.

Quaint location next to an old toll bridge with seating next to the river/weir/bridge and a working water powered wheel, room within main building was nice and spacious with huge bathroom. Easy bus links in and out of the city centre (although walk up and down a short, steep hill required to get to the main road). Car park larger than expected but arrive early as got super busy later as hotel was popular with tradespeople staying in the ‘motel’ style rooms.
