Monemvasia is interesting and charming and beautiful. I liked that it was not crawling with tourists because it was off season. I think high season could be packed to the gills with tourists. Parking is hard and very limited. If you are staying in the castle area, big suitcases would be a challenge.

Monemvasia is just a magical place to be.
Monemvasia is just a magical place to be. Take the time to explore it. Make sure you go up to the top of the rock, sunrise is the perfect time. And be sure to explore the town in the evening: there are fewer people around and it is very atmospheric.
Food wise, Monemvasia is a bit limited for vegans, but we found places to eat.

its a must to see Monemvasia. The rock looks difficult to walk buy its not and its worth. In and around Monemvasia the people are always smiling, happy and easy going.

Monemvasia is a lovely village built at the base of an island reachable by a bridge. There are two great spots to swim on the island side of the bridge, on of which is quite sheltered by rocks so we were able to take a dip although the wind and waves were strong. The town at the base of the cliffs and the old site at the top are both charming and worth a visit. We were only there for a night but I could have stayed longer.

This place is amazing.
This place is amazing. Feels like you have just stepped back into Medieval times. We only stayed for one night - wish we had stayed for two. We got up at dawn and walked up to the castle ruins - this is a must do experience.

Location was excellent for visiting Monemvasia which was about a 10-15min walk away. Parked our motorcycles right outside the hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful. Room with sea view. Breakfast was amazing! So much choice and we then carried it across the road to eat on the beach. Would definitely stay again.

This is one of the best places to stay in Monemvasia to get the feeling of how it is to "live" in an area inhabited in 6th century AD, while the castle was built around 10th/11th century AD. Expect arc stone two level structure converted to a 'hotel" room! Bonus, the magnificent terrace and view!

In our car trip over Peloponnesos, Monemvasia was the most impressive place! The hotel is just in front of the old town, the view from our room was fantastic! Beds would need a cover mattress but for one night it was all good!
