There are lots of places to eat and drink in the town as well as a variety of shops. The town is very accessible from the airport and ferry port. There is a town beach within easy walking distance. It's easy to explore the island from here as the bus station and the tourist train are here.

We much prefer the town to the main tourist resorts. We've holidayed in Zakynthos for more than 20 years now and experienced most things. The tavernas, cafes, restaurants and shops in the town are generally of a higher quality to those in the resorts, although you can pay a little more. Our favourite shop in town is Oneiropolis and if you want to buy some lovely hand made jewellery you should visit Art of P. If you want some delicious bakery items, cakes and traditional pastries then Artogonia Coffee is a must and the newly opened Venier Boulangerie has some wonderful filled croissants, cakes, filled sandwiches and ice creams. We always got our daily Freddo Cappuccino from Avant Garde close to the main square. El Greco on the same square as Avant Garde is great for atmosphere, food and cocktails. We love Kati Psinete on the harbour front as a traditional grill house and a bit further along you have Madisons and Belo for more general Mediterranean cuisine.

Good food, nice restaurants.
What I didn't like about Zakynthos is that it is very touristic.
If you are looking for something authentic, you have to choose places to go carefully. For example, don't go to Laganas.

It's great to stay there as you get the most restarants, bars and everything. You don't need car to go to dinner or drinks. Beaches are near and the island isn't that big, so it's worth staying in the main town.

Considering the level of service, the clean and modern rooms and the central location, we felt that Bitzaro Boutique Hotel was excellent value for money. We were given great recommendations of where to eat and the best beaches to visit. The staff also helped us to arrange a rental car during our visit. We really enjoyed our time here and the yummy breakfast every morning!

The staff was very polite and always ready to provide the best possible service, answering any questions and solving any problems that arise. The hotel is in a great location. The room and bathroom are spacious and comfortable. The room has a large terrace with a view of the central square and the sea. Breakfast was excellent.

We loved our stay at Filoxenia, beautiful complex of studios and apartments. Close to Zakynthos town, nice beaches and restaurants (not the crowded ones, Nikos will give you incredible recommendations), supermarkets. Our apartment was amazing. And Nikos is the best host!
