Right in the middle of everything. Walk everywhere (although not much of sidewalks). But it’s a Chichicastenango 100% experience!

I had a fantastic experience at Casa Diego Ignacio! I booked it last minute so didn’t know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality and care of the hotel and owners. The owners are absolutely lovely, and their presence made it feel like I was getting the benefits of a homestay with the privacy of a hotel. They offer a cool variety of cultural activities that made me wish I booked an extra day to fit them all into my schedule. I would definitely recommend taking part in at least one of them. My room was quaint but recently remodeled and had a very cool mural depicting Mayan artwork. I definitely recommend opting in to the homemade traditional meals they prepare there! The abuela, who does the cooking, was an absolute sweetheart and her food was delicious! All in all, it was an amazing experience that I cannot recommend enough!! If you want to experience local culture, traditional home cooked food, and lovely people then this hotel is a great choice. Those are the reasons why I travel, if you feel the same then I recommend a stay here.

I stayed here for my birthday with a group of friends. It was perfect! Great location to explore the area. We loved the churrasco and fire pit. I also really appreciated the blankets and hot shower!

Dirty

Dirty Many vendors cannot understand “no”and follow us everywhere we we go nagging and nagging and very annoying. One followed us to our hotel another followed us to the restaurant. The market is not all that as Antigua has a market and Guatamala City has central market with equal products and food. I found out they charge more on Thursdays and Sundays because of the tourists. The local restaurants quality of food is terrible. We ate at San Juan and Las Brasas Not worth going to Chichicastenango.

The charm of Chichicastenango, known simply as Chichi in Guatemala, only unfolds after a certain amount of time. Just rushing through and quickly ticking off the sights won't do it justice. It's much nicer if you take your time. Just like everywhere else.

If you want to see and understand Guatemala you have to go to Chichicastenango. You will see the real people and their spirit and spirituality. Visit the church of San Tomas with and without mass. Definitely go there on Sunday, market day. At the Maya Inn hotel you can stay and eat very well.

A beautiful place full of mysteries, landscapes, and wonderful Guatemalan people (I'm Guatemalan and proud of it!). To visit and experience everything, you need at least five days. I recommend it if you want a place full of beautiful people and a great deal of safety.

We arrived on Wednesday and stayed two nights at the Mayan Inn Hotel, a dream for anyone who loves antique charm and a crackling fireplace! The market (Thursday and Sunday) is absolutely worth seeing, as are the church and the colorful cemetery where Mayan rituals are also performed. The Casa San Juan restaurant is highly recommended! Everything is easily accessible on foot.

The best thing about it is its Sunday market; there's a huge variety of clothing. Just be sure to bring money, as the handmade items are expensive. You can also visit the cemetery; it's very different from what you're used to. About an hour away is the community of Quiché, which is also worth visiting. There you'll find an archaeological site with two caves.

Very friendly hotel staff, authentic place (although people have mentioned it being dingy - it is an old monastery after all). I think the pricing was completely fair (and a little higher, because it was a market day). It was nice they had a decent restaurant and breakfast included. I really liked the fireplace and the service they offered (for someone to come and turn it on). Location is perfect for exploring the market as it is right next to it.

The hotel has super charming rooms and patio. The room was big and we everything we needed. A super plus is that there is the possibility to call the staff to set the fire in the fireplace, if the night is cold (as in our case). The staff is super helpful and welcoming. The position is great as is right behind the market square.

I wish I could stay longer. What a privilege to stay with this Family. If you want to see people connected to their history, roots, customs this is the place to stay. If you want plastic-fantastic generic hotel don't bother.
