I went during the "off-season" and that was perfect for me.
I went during the "off-season" and that was perfect for me. I was able to catch up on much needed relaxation and quiet time. Though, I hear during the "peak-season" you can find tons of activities to do; even more than golf and spa (the only two things that got me out of the resort aside from going into to the town of Tela, which is about a 15 minute car ride away).

We arrived in May during a bit of an off-season in tourism but all tours and shops were still open and accessible. We stayed for 4 nights as it was our first location of the trip and just wanted to get our bearings. I’d recommend 2/3 nights. Tela isn't insanely rich with different tourist thing you can do, however they have some very nice beaches. The overall vibe was pretty welcoming, we stayed mostly within a 15 block radius of our hotel (Maya Vista). Highly recommend staying there as well as going to eat just a few buildings down at The Family Food Truck. Again wonderful family vibe, good food and drinks are available and decent prices.

I was recently in that city and we stayed at the Hotel Casa...
I was recently in that city and we stayed at the Hotel Casa Verde. The reservation was made online, but in my haste I didn't read the terms and conditions, and when I arrived at the hotel, I didn't get what I expected. This wasn't the hotel's fault, but rather because I hadn't read the offer before confirming. The correction is worthwhile.

A very beautiful place, good beaches, a great nightlife, excellent hotels, but above all, very friendly people who will help you find your way if you need advice, such as discovering, after so many years, a 360-degree panoramic terrace at the Maya Vista hotel, and its exquisite seafood restaurant.

I liked everything. The staff were lovely, going out of their way to make me feel welcome. I very much appreciated the Safety of the hotel. The food was amazing, very tasty. I had a great time. Hotel BAHÍA is really close to the beach and restaurants and the owners are very friendly. The beds are very comfortable and the airconditioning doesn’t blow directly at you at night.
