Indonesia’s capital, sprawling Jakarta has hurtled into the 21st-century at a startling rate. Rapidly expanding, it is an eclectic mix of cultures with an electric clubbing scene including the EX at Plaza Indonesia mall and those near Blok M mall, popular with expats. Jakarta shopping is great, with modern malls all over, interspersed with traditional markets, some underground.
Thousands of Jakarta restaurants and cheap street food provide tourists with tons of choices. Little Japan is best for sushi (and karaoke), while colorful Chinatown has fantastic dim sum. Buzzing around all are bajaj, Indonesia’s equivalent of tuk-tuks.
The main Jakarta sights include Monas National Monument in green Merdeka square. Spectacularly lit at night, it has a deck with fantastic city views. Opposite is the presidential palace, patrolled by the national guard. The oldest part is Batavia – the city’s Dutch Colonial name – and is home to the Jakarta History Museum.
Away from the bustle is Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, a suburban park celebrating Indonesia’s rich culture through museums, dance and film, centered around a large lake with Indonesia-shaped islands. Ancol Dream Park also features waterparks, beaches and amusement rides.
Traffic can be manic, so leave time after checking out of your Booking.com accommodation in Jakarta to get to Soekarno Hatta or Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.

It's a clean city with something for everyone, shopping, entertainment and incredible food. I used grab to go everywhere cheaply and although everything is pretty close by geographically the traffic slows things down during peak times. I found a nice western bar called Eastern Promise that had a pool table and have made many friends there, both locals, expats and holiday makers. The Indonesian people are beautiful, always smiling and helpful. I highly recommend visiting.

Jakarta is a fascinating Asian city. It's size makes it difficult to see everything in a few days. I recommend a full week here. We Liked Central Jakarta and M Blok the best. Beautiful friendly locals. The traffic is crazy but the locals attitude towards it is to work as a team which is waaay different to the attitude in the West.. If possible taxi on scooters at peak times otherwise allow an extra chunk of time and try adopt the local attitude. LOVED JAKARTA. PS take a street food tour or walking tour as it's not an easy city to grasp quickly..

We were visiting Jakarta to see my partner's family - but on this occasion we had time to get around a little bit. It's a typical large city - but a guided tour of parts of Jakarta, and the Old Batavia (Kota Tua) district is well worth the visit

People were very helpful.
People were very helpful. City vibes were very positive.Food was cheap. On one side Elegant shopping malls to visit such as Grand Indonesia ,Sarinah with world class brands, on other hand local markets such as Tamreen city or Pasar Tanha Abang for local products on cheaper rate were available .
Ancol beach is worth visiting specially on Night

The hotel is super in everything. The location is near the train station to the airport. The staff is very polite, attentive, the reception is open 24 hours. Opposite the hotel with a sky restaurant and a bar on the roof. 5 minutes Starbucks, 10 minutes Grand Indonesia. Metro stop, main road. Everything is at hand. The room is clean, TV with YouTube, for me it is very important to watch what I want, when I want. Water, towels, soap. The shower is comfortable, hot water. Air conditioning. Different options for room lighting - very comfortable.

Good for a short stay of 2-3 days. The hotel is located in a cul-de-sac, making it quiet yet well-situated (about 30 minutes by car from Soekarno Airport and around 15 minutes from the Grand Indonesia Mall). The rooftop bar is lovely, with a great view, good drinks, and tasty food.
