This town has been largely emptied of people since the volcano eruption there. There were two restaurants in the town that were still working and we tried one which was good. Staying here is good for an early morning next day flight from the airport, because most hotels near the airport are overpriced.

Great location 10 minutes from the Blue lagoon.
Great location 10 minutes from the Blue lagoon. We stayed here on our first night in Iceland going straight from the airport to the Blue lagoon then checked in.
Not a lot here but there’s a pretty church here
Tip: don’t buy supplies in the airport shop - we stocked up & it cost us a fortune. There’s a Netto in Grindavík

Grindavik is a small, beautiful fishing village close to the Geldingadalur volcano (but not too close) and the Blue Lagoon. It has many excellent hiking opportunities and great restaurants. Grindavik is surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape. Whale-watching, fishing, mountaineering, very friendly people, safe environment, you name it, Grindavik has it all!

Great location for Meradalir.
Great location for Meradalir. Fabulous fish and chips at Papas - Grindavik is a fishing town, so all fish is fresh that morning. Lovely walking around the town. Very peaceful. Great for exploring south coast and peninsula. Only 25 mins from Keflavik.

We stopped for one night during our Iceland tour to visit the Blue Lagoon and Fagradalsfjall, the volcano that erupted in 2021 and is still smoldering several months later. Grindavik is a working fishing village with a few local restaurants, grocery store and pharmacy, so is a really good spot to stay for a day when touring Iceland. It is not touristy though so don’t expect lots of shops selling the usual.

This is a dock terminal terrible views, bad aspect for tourists, cabin super smaill no microwave, no waste basket in bathroom, nothing to sweep with, place is creepy, huge caping yard nezt to the property that makes it seem dangerous. Lonely area! For this price you can get a top notch place.

Very cosy little housing pod that protected me perfectly from the wind and rain
Extremely well kitted out, loved the look and design, could have happily stayed there for longer
Bed was comfy and ability to alter temperature in each room was welcomed as Icelandic hotels tend to be a bit on the warm side!
Bathroom clean and loved the underfloor heating
Lovely views over the harbour.

Hello! We absolutely loved your guesthouse - it felt like home. Completing the entire Ring Road and staying in 9 other hotels, yours stands out as the best by far! The owners were delightful, and the fresh, delicious food made our time here truly enjoyable. We had a wonderful stay and much-needed rest. We'd love to return and, next time, take advantage of the spa offered by the owners' friends. Looking forward to another visit! 🇮🇸❤️❄️

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Spacious room. Location wise very good of you plan to visit the Blue Lagoon as it's very close (less than 5 minutes drive). Facilities was good, especially the loungue area for hotel guests, there's board games for families to play.

Grindavik is a bit of a ghost town as a result of the volcanic activity but this was a novel place stay during a quiet phase between eruption events.
The hotel itself is nicely set up with a generous breakfast

We arrived early due to our flight time but we’re able to use the beautiful lagoon. The hotel was peaceful and we totally relaxed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and The room was exceptional.
