Sardinia in a Nutshell
The Sardinian capital, Cagliari has a historic old town, busy port and one of the island’s best beaches. The sweeping stretch of sand at Poetto has great summer nightlife, and just inland is Molentargius lagoon, where flamingos nest against the backdrop of the city.
Cagliari is spread over a small hill and the oldest part – Quartiere Castello – lies at the top. There are far-reaching views from Bastion San Remy, its main entrance point. Medieval city walls lead from here to the simple cathedral, and nearby is the 18th-century Palazzo Regio.
By one of the original city gates is the National Archaeological Museum, housing a collection of Phoenician and Roman artifacts from the city’s Tuvixeddu Necropolis. There are also displays of the nuraghic civilization whose former dwellings pepper Sardinia. The most impressive is Su Nuraxi north of Cagliari.
Just outside the walls are remains of a Roman amphitheater, next to the university botanical gardens. Orange tree-lined streets descend the hill towards the seafront where restaurants and bars can be found. Cagliari FC play at Sant’Elia Stadium along the coast and opposite is the Sardinia International Fair, an important conference venue.

We stayed at hotel Natilius on Poetto beach. A perfect location. Spotless hotel with a perfect staff team. A hike up to the Devil’s saddleis an amazing experience with spectacular views.

Cagliari is a wonderful city to explore by foot or on one of the fun trains or buses. The walled city is definitely a leisurely day, exploring all the narrow streets, and looking at the views.
We ate in several different restaurants - Antica Cagliari Bistro, Taverna Borno, Taboo Pizzeria, Taurus Steakhouse, and our total favourite for wine tasting/nibbles was Sarduzzo Enoteca & co, where we went twice!

We were there for the Sailing and this Hotel is in the most perfect spot . Would highly recommend for anyone that needs to be close to the beach and Marina . The owners Jonny and Graziella were the best hosts and could not have done more for us for our stay .

We stayed in Poetto Beach for 2 nights which we loved, then stayed at Palazzo Doglio for 2 nights which gave us a different perspective, both great. There are good restaurants, shopping, a marina, museums. It is a lovely city.

Loved the small narrow streets, thousands of small cafes, a rich history, many churches historical places to visit.
Like many fortress cities there are alot of step inclines and many steps, so a visit here is definitely for the more able-bodied of us... sorry.

Thank you Maria Luce for being a great host (together with your lovely dog companion Potter). We had a lovely stay at the hotel, a great facility perfectly located by Poetto Beach, and with easy access to the public transportation taking you to Cagliari city centre when needed. We felt at home already from the beginning, much thanks to Maria Luce and her wonderful family. Highly recommend other to visit.

Super cute and beautiful flat in the middle of old town Cagliari. When you go outside you are in the middle of a small but vivid square. The flat is very quiet, clean and offers everything you need. The owners were super welcoming and even offered us a variety of Sardinian sweets when we arrived. Communication was not just easy but really sympathetic. We loved everything about the place.

Location perfect, center of Cagliari, 5 min walk from buses to get to the beach, everything near, restaurant’s, coffee shops supermarket, I really recommend it to anyone, if we plan for another session to travel to Sardinia I’ll definitely book it again, space brilliant, shower with bath, air con very good, two balconies, safety door, stunning 🤩

The hotel itself- which is a floor in an old building is excellent. Very nice modern and comfortable room with everything you need in it. very clean. the location is good-inside the old town but gives you trouble to come and return.

The location in the Centro historic is perfect for an exploration of Cagliari and beyond. The train station is less than 10 minutes by foot from the hotel.
The rooms are very well appointed, clean and comfortable and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.
