IcelandIt is a very nice hotel, centrally located, with as uperb view over most of the Abruzzo region. Although the hotel does not have the most modern furniture, the rooms are very convenient and clean. If you manage to get a room to the North, the location is very quiet, too. While some other guest complained about the breakfast, we had a delicious Italien (= 'sweet') breakfast in the hotel's cafeteria, served by a very obliging waiter. If one expects to get a full English breakfast, Italy is perhaps the wrong location to go.

Chieti is an ancient city going back 9000 years.
Chieti is an ancient city going back 9000 years. The Greeks and Roman developed the city calling it Teate. The center has the quaint narrow streets and old buildings which give the city its charm. Chieti is a small city where you can escape the massive hordes of tourists you find in Florence and Venice. However the city allows you to have a real Italian experience. Rome is only a two hour drive away. There is the natural aspect Chieti. The Gran Sasso are enormous mountains. There are forests and hiking trails. The Abbruzzese are some of the friendliest Italians in Italy. Fifteen minutes away is the Metropolitan city of Pescara and the Adriatic Sea. Chieti does have many things to offer in a unique and prime location.

A nice town (speaking only of the historic center) with a few museums, ethnological sites, good food with extremely reasonable prices (compared to Rome). The people are nice, friendly, very limited tourists, asians to be seen. In the center, most restaurants offer meat/pasta...You'd have to go outside of the center to find well reviewed/rated fish restaurants and to get to Trabocco, it takes about an hour by car. I travelled alone and on foot so it wasn't easy to get to Trabocco nor did I want to pay for 1hr ride. There are many great restaurants in the center with great prices and offering huge servings (Casamoro - highly recommend). The town is easily accessible by train or bus from Rome.
Due to the elevation, it may affect your skin.
All in all, it's very peaceful, quiet, and great value for money.

Chieti is split into 2 towns - the "bottom" town where the train comes in. There is nothing to see here other than a main, noisy street with take-away pizza restaurants - hardly anything was open and it felt like a ghost town. Then there is "Chieti Historic Centre" up a very steep hill about 4kms away (good luck with the bus timetable - a lottery!). Cute little place where all but one restaurant was closed and most of the shops were closed. Nice (small) church in a lovely square, which was deserted and only had one bar/cafe. Main street runs from one end to the other - deserted during the daytime and barely alive at night! We found a nice park with a lovely restaurant (which was closed on Mondays). Honestly - there is NOTHING to see or do in Chieti unless you want to sit in the same bar all day (only bars and cafes or DREADFUL pizzerias were open), eating ice cream or drinking coffee. Don't waste your time visiting.

Chieti is a lovely, peaceful town high above the valley. Perfect for a stopover for a couple of days. We discovered some excellent restaurants, serving both meat and pasta options. The town has a large park for walking and relaxing in and a museum.

Chieti (and Abruzzo as a whole) feel like undiscovered gems in Italy. The old town is large and interesting, the main Piazza del Duomo is being worked on and will look amazing when done, the food is absolutely to die for and half the price relative to standard Northern Italian tourist areas. It was a stopover for us on a drive to Puglia, but we are already thinking about when we can return.

The fabulous position with the safe big parking, lovely place and close to shops for anything you may need and with kids you always will need something and the stuff help was gigantic for advices where to go or not and the explanation of the reasons .

The place is very close to the beautiful old town, host was very helpful when I needed reliable information to arrive by public transport which is a bit tricky, and she even voluntarily came to meet me at a bus stop and we walked together to the accomodation (10mins). The place was super clean, had all the towels and bed was nicely made. Shower and bathroom worked very well, I could use the fridge (though no kitchen access). I only stayed for 1 night, it was very good for the price (about 31e/night) if one wants to visit Chieti.

It was a very nice stay for a night of rest on our way to Bari. It is very close to the highway and very quiet. It's nice that you can also find some restaurants nearby by foot, as well as at a 15 minutes distance by car, in Chieti or Pescara. We had everything we needed. Bonus - The owner and the stuff were such nice persons! I would also like to take a moment to appreciate the great coffee I had for breakfast :)
