I had a situation with my (first) room that it was next to the room with a guest who was obviously unwell - loud coughing and sneezeng, etc. Practically, I could not sleep normaly in the room. I asked for room change and the staff proceeded it smoothly. Thanks again!
Rooms we good, clean with nice view on Apennine Mountains.
Breakfast is typically Italian, with a lot of croisants. I am not personally amazed by this, but it was OK and I noticed that other guests were happy. Again, the staff in the hotel restaurant was attentive.

The old town has some wonderful architecture and a beautiful square full of life. The main street is stylish and people very friendly. But it was devastated in 2006 (?) by a powerful earthquake and there is still a lot of building work.

Take 3-4 days to stay in L'Aquila and visit the city, the castle, go to the mountains. This charming small town has a lot to offer if you're looking for a little bit of relaxation, connection with the nature and with the authenticity of the Italian life style.

My third visit to this beautifully situated city was my first since the earthquake of 2009. The city with its bounty of beautiful, historic palazzi and churches is still in a state of recovery, but its spirit seems undiminished, and I found my memories of its liveliness and as home to some of the nicest people in Italy still accurate. Because of the broad range of reconstruction still going on, driving can be a challenge in the city center, which makes arriving by public transport from Rome, Sulmona or Pescara a better option. Walking, once you do arrive, will prove to be its own reward. There are
still numerous venerable cafes and some very good restaurants. If I had to recommend one it would be Antologie on via Vestusti, a short walk from the Piazza Duomo.

L'Aquila is a beautiful city, that is clean safe and family oriented.
Extensive work has been done and continues to be done to the various buildings that suffered damage in the 2009 earthquake. The buildings are clean and very little graffiti is evident within the city compared to other cities in Italy and Europe generally. The city has an abundance of restaurants, trattorias, gelati shops and clothing and general shopping
stores. There are many historical sights and churches to visit and a great way to do this is on the hop on hop off electric carts.
Use the city as your base to visit Chieti, Pescara, Sulmona and other places with the bus and rail network.
Highly recommended city to visit.

Really interesting city, very much worth an extended visit.
Really interesting city, very much worth an extended visit. I went to take a two-week Italian course with the Gentilmente school of Italian for foreign students - I would very highly recommend this, I learned a huge amount, my Italian improved massively and I really enjoyed the course. Daniela is an excellent teacher.

LʼAquila is a charming city with good museums, parks, and restaurants. They are still recovering from earthquake damage, and driving in the old city is difficult because many roads have temporary closures for construction. We walked most places except for a driven tour with a guide. The countryside surrounding LʼAquila is gorgeous, and there are many national parks and mountains to explore. We thoroughly enjoyed a day hike around Lago di Scanno.

Perfect apartment, great location close to the University, breakfast included, very clean, and recently renovated. Loved living in an old Italian house, also, it was very close to all the landmarks and in the heart of the city. Check-in was easy and the Wifi was very good. If I ever come back to L'Aquila, I will select it!
