SwitzerlandWe had an absolutely wonderful stay here! The staff were incredibly kind and went above and beyond to make our visit special. They even arranged delicious dinners for us, organized tuk-tuk rides, and showed us their beautiful Ayurvedic garden where we enjoyed a relaxing massage and discovered some excellent natural products. The local breakfast was also very tasty and a perfect start to the day. We truly felt cared for and can highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm and authentic experience.

Hotel was great , we arrived at 5 am and security let us in . Restaurant was great , WiFi was good , shops are a 2 min walk up the road as is the elephant orphanage. View from our room was amazing . Elephants come right up to you . Bathroom could have been cleaner but that is my only down point . Value for money 11/10 for the experience we had

View of elephants ,river and surrounding countryside was excellent- especially from dining hall and verandah of some rooms facing the river.

Pinnawala basically has 4 main attractions therefore a maximum of 2 days is sufficient. The main attraction is the elephant orphanage. Related to that is the elephant bathing at the nearby river which is fascinating. Remember the ticket you purchase for the orphanage is required for the bathing so do both in the same day as the tickets technically only valid for the day (we did not know this so we went to the orphanage in the evening and went to see the bathing the next day.. however the kind ticket officers let us go). Then there is a mini zoo where animals roam in more space than usual. You can feed animals here which could be fascinating (for a small fee). Then there is a traditional village called Iparini Gama where you can experience live style of a traditional sri lankan village.

Spectacular area to get up and close with elephants.
Spectacular area to get up and close with elephants. Unique experience with elephants walking thru the village for their daily bathing.
General accommodation facilities were good. Bars and eateries also of reasonable standard.
We stayed at Grand Royal Pinnalanda and found this quite satisfactory in services and value.

Amazing experience to watch the elephants bathing.
Amazing experience to watch the elephants bathing. A number of souvenir shops on the street and limited food options. We ate in our hotel. Shops don't stay open late as most tourists leave for the day. 1 night is enough.

The staff were very obliging.
The staff were very obliging. We arrived at 1am, this was not a problem and they greeted us warmly. Next morning we watched elephants in river from our balcony. The events coordinator took us to a place where we could walk and swim with elephants. He stopped on side of road on way back to try coconut milk. Wonderful staff. We found the breakfast not quite to European tastes.

I liked it a lot. When I entered they put a welcome sign on me. It has a terrace, living room, large computer room, toilet, dining room. Kasum the host is exceptional, he picked me up and took me to the station, he took me to the Elephant Orphanage and other places. He is an unbeatable tour guide. In fact I work 10 years in airlines. Totally recommended. One 10 in everything. My experience with elephants is amazing.

Location location elephants in abundance the ability to see them bathing up to three times a day. The location to the elephant orphanage. River views from the rooms and the restaurant were amazing. Nice to see women front of house. Buffet was good and breakfast very good. Pool a bonus.
