The location was amazing, it felt to be in a small paradise away from the chaos of the Main Street but still very close. Also, the pool was very relaxing and the breakfast amazing. Last but not least, the staff was incredible, extremely helpful in any circumstances and very cordial. Would definitely go back!

IsraelWe had a great stay here. This place is brand new so the rooms are clean,bed is comfy and shower is great for a cheap price relative to what you get.
They have a pool also, which is critical as sigiriya is very hot and you need to cool down sometimes.
Breakfast had everything you need, The staff was very attentive and friendly.
The location is good, not that far from the rocks and has restaurants in a walkable distance
Wifi signal was a bit slow

Bernard gave us a very warm welcome and provided us with a wonderful stay in an oasis of well-being. During our trip, the search for small, authentic and nice accommodation was unfortunately somewhat difficult. The Lion Gate Hotel ultimately met all our expectations and not only did we have a great starting point for our activities around Sigiriya but also a place where we really enjoyed going to simply relax. The rooms are very nice, the facilities are new and modern. The service should be emphasized. Any type of requests were fulfilled immediately. I can highly recommend staying at Lion Gate Hotel.

Shiron and the staff were very kind, helpful and humble. They helped with everything we needed.
And the pool was a great bonus.
About 20 minutes by tuktuk from Pindaragula rock which was beautiful on sunrise.

United KingdomI cannot fault this property. It is exceptional value for money, the facilities are great, big bathroom, great pool, ac and fan and the staff were incredibly nice. We were checking out at 5am to climb Sigiriya rock and so weren’t able to have breakfast, however they offered to make us sandwich’s instead which was incredibly kind.

There is so much more to do in this area than I realised. I will definitely come back. The area is beautiful and we were sad to leave. We dud Pidurangala Rock which was fun, more of an adventurous climb than Lions Rock. It has incredible views of Lions Rock. We also did a safari in Minneriya National Park. The park was beautiful and we saw so many elephants plus lots of varieties of birds, golden jackals, monkees, mongoose, the grizzled giant squirrel, buffalo and jungle foul. We also went to Dambula Temple Caves which is very spiritual and Luckgrove Spice Gardens which was an incredible experience. Highly recommend this area.Guest review byHazelIreland - 10.0

Stayed 6 nights and used Sigiriya as a base for visiting the ancient cities, an elephant safari, a boat trip, for Dambulla caves, a Loris walk and to climb Lion Rock and Pidurangala. This is the perfect spot being central to all those places and having great facilities with a lovely sleepy village feel. It's a must see.
It's a must see. So much history, fantastic views from the ground and the top of Sigiriya and Pidurangala Rocks. Pick your times to visit the sites due to heat. I missed the crowds which was great. We also visited Dambulla Cave Temples and Polonnaruwa Ancient City. They are not far from Sigiriya. We had a fairly full schedule and would have loved to squeeze in some of the other things offered around Sigiriya. Next time!Guest review byGeeNew Zealand
