The owners have exquisite taste in terms of decor, and at the same time have created a comfortable atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Small details (you can try their impressive tea collection and enjoy the equally impressive record and CD collection) make this so much more than just another hotel/apartment. The staff in the cafe downstairs are very friendly, and for a drink and something light to eat I would not bother going anywhere else. Vianden is a lovely town to walk around, visit the castle or do a bit of hiking.

United KingdomWhat can I say about this place? We've never stayed anywhere quite like it! When we pulled up to the property, we thought that there must have been some mistake, as it looked like it had not been renovated, with old cracked and rusty framed windows. However we quickly realised that behind this facade was an incredible renovation of the old black smith's forge. We entered to find a lovely kitchen, a seating area, bedroom and bathroom. All open plan with curtains separating each area.
The real striking thing about this property is the stone walls and ceiling. It's basically a posh cave, complete with cobwebs and that strange smell that you get in them. As a holiday let, it's so incredibly unique that we just loved it. It's just those little details, like the lovely copper basin in the bathroom. The bed was really comfortable and I had a good nights sleep. The location is fantastic. Not far from Vianden Castle and on a lovely cobbled street.
The communication from Mayke before our stay was just amazing. Every bit of information that we could want. I only realised during our stay that she owns and has renovated several properties, and I do mean to look more into these and what she and Pascal have done. The key was in a keysafe next to the front door, so we had no problems checking ourselves in.
We also loved the little details, like the light under the bed that came on automatically when you put your foot down. Small things that have a big impact. I definitely want to return to this place.

BelgiumStaff was very friendly, helpful and polite. Always with the smile. We requested extra blanket, so it was already arranged for us at the time of checking in. Rooms are really clean, smells good, and has really clean and comfy beds. We got 4person room whitch divided in two bedrooms separate with door and both rooms had its own airco and tv. One toilet and the shower to share. The soap/body wash/shampoo was really nice and smell good. Our room was on the other side from the street and we heard no sound from outside despite the fact that on the street late at night busy bars was open and were full of ppl. We loved interior and huge tedy bears in the hallway🥰🧸🧸🧸🧸 was a plesant stay, would recomend for everyone!!! Person at the reception speak very good English and there was no communication problems. Brekfast was good and quiet big asortiment. Definitely worth 13eu! Thank you for everything! Hopefully we will return there one day again!

The castle is a brilliant visit and a walk along the Our Promenade are two excellent activities in Vianden and there are plenty of well marked hiking trails in the area as well as free public transport to adjacent areas.

The chateau museum, exhibition and tour was fantastic.
The chateau museum, exhibition and tour was fantastic. Highly recommend taking the time to see the exhibition before touring the chateau.
We also took the chairlift up to the high viewing point and had a few drinks. Not the cheapest but nowhere in Luxembourg is cheap. The views were great and it was worth the trip.
We also visited the newly refurbished open air swimming pool which the kids loved and added a bit of relaxation to the trip. It was very clean and well maintained.
The town itself has plenty of bars and restaurants to sample during a short stay, especially the ones with views over the river

The town is very nice and the castle is fantastic! Had a pizza one night as recommended by the Hotel Victor Hugo staff and it was excellent. Also enjoyed two dinners at the hotel, which were very good.

It’s very beautiful and cozy city with great views. Not a lot of fancy restaurants but there are few decent one. A lot of things to do there, hiking, visit castle, walk around the city. Very peaceful and not a lot of tourists. Great to visit for 1-2 days and rest in calm atmosphere.

The area is fantastic for a motorcycling holiday.
The area is fantastic for a motorcycling holiday. You can get there easily in a day, just use the autoroutes for the first couple of hours to get past the boring bit of France and Belgium. The roads in the area are really good for riding, very good surface, no gravel, all types of bens - fast sweepers to hairpins. The town is very bike friendly. Restaurants stop serving early - apart from Fuku Chines (well worth a visit).

A lovely place to visit for a number of reasons - attractions, hiking, dining etc. Easy to get to but within the town can be hard to get around because it is on a hill. Riverside area is really relaxing.

I would say the second culprit of the Vianden (the first one is obviously the castle) is definitely the Victor Hugo hotel - it's in the heart of the town. The hotel is a part of the towns identity and it has a really long history. The hotel manager was exceptional - really friendly and nice, we were in good hands. The view from the room's window was magical, because we could see the castle. The beds were comfy, the room was spacious, really clean and we could park the car (for free) very close from the hotel!

Cosy and with a view on the castle.
I recommend. I was really positively surprised in particular viewing some of the not so enthusiastic other reviews that I dont understand to be honest.
