Although we arrived earlier than expected, just to drop off our backpacks and explore the city until check-in, the manager kindly offered us a room for a few hours so our kids could rest after the long flight. Later, we moved to our booked rooms, which were clean and cozy. The breakfast on the 8th-floor restaurant was delicious, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. I truly appreciate the wonderful experience we had at ZAN Lodge. We were lucky that our vacation in Maldives started from such a good place.

Absolutely visit th main Island, there lots to visit and experience. Food and people were fantastic. Beaches and activities are also great. There many different boat trips and Island flights, although expensive worth exploring. Its a dry Island so be prepared that theres no alcohol, when were were at airport to fly to Male the duty free are selling you alcohol so if you arrive with bottles etc in hand or checked in luggage its confiscated.

I only stayed overnight in Male and, in general, it was enough. Simply passing though to get my flight home.
As expected the city is noisy, busy and hectic. Wow the contrast from the laid-back, easygoing atol where I was based for the holiday.
However, I still quite enjoyed it. The guy from the diving company arranged a tour guide for me whose policy was that I pay him what I thought his time was worth. I got to experience the traffic from a scooter (quite scary to begin with) was taken to the market and given lots of free samples of local foods to try and had visits to all the important sites in three brilliant hours.
He also introduced me to a wonderful restaurant - The Seagull Cafe- where I visited another twice before leaving the food and the coffee were so good.

One day is plenty.
One day is plenty. You can walk to the main square and all the main sights in one day. Entry to mosques is limited to certain times of the day (1-2) hour window so plan accordingly. Food/drink is fairly pricey and allow for 10% service charge and 17% Tax on published prices. Most places price in USD but will convert to local currency (at the prevailing exchange rate).

I wish this city could prompt the substitution from gasoline motorbikes to electric bikes, which is more environmentally friendly and enhance the image of the country’s tourism and hospitality.

I found it helpful to have US $'s in small denominations
Prices for taxis also very reasonable,and u can just hail one that is passing in the street...often there are multiple clients in the same cab

Our quick stay in Male was a delightful addition to our travel itinerary. Despite the limited time, we managed to explore many of the city's vibrant attractions. Male is bustling with energy, offering numerous shopping spots that cater to a variety of tastes.
The city's cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere were truly impressive. It's a place that I would highly recommend visiting either before or after a trip to one of the nearby islands, as it offers a great contrast to the tranquillity of the island resorts.
Overall, Male exceeded our expectations and heightened our travel experience. It's a destination worth exploring, even if just for a short while.

Good central location, easy to get to by city bus. The sign outside the property is quite small, I completely missed it when I passed by it the first time. The check in guy was helpful with helping me download the Maldives version of Uber, which was much cheaper than pre-ordering a taxi the traditional way, although he did also try to overcharge me the city tax so watch out for that. Overall a good stay.

Everything, staff was wonderful, location, the room was clean, bed very comfortable, room temperature perfect as it was very hot outside. We only stayed there for a few hours before our late flight and will definetely repeat when we get back to the Maldives and have a late flight. Totally recomend this hotel

Prompt airport shuttle pickup, great service from airport all the way to hotel and room service. Super clean hotel, friendly, helpful staff that made our late arrival with a tired 2yr old fast, comfortable and smooth. Will stay here again when coming to Maldives.

The hotel is near to the big mosque, 5min from the boat jet, in the main road. The room was ok, unfortunately no view from the window and very noisy from the workers at the other building. Nice roof with great view at the Maldives airport and the sea.
