The breakfast at the hotel was the best one we had during our stay in Mexico and we went quite a few places. We tried the restaurant at dinner as well and it was very good. The location was perfect as it is quite central and less than a 10 min walk to the central plaza. Much like most first-time tourists in Mexico, initially we thought we would only use Uber for safety reasons but we felt very safe and walked at all times of the day (and night). In the evening the area has people around but it's not noisy. Honestly, this was the best value-for-money booking I've had in a long time. Three of the four rooms we booked were enormous and the queen size beds were incredibly comfortable.

I enjoyed so much my stay in this amazing hotel. I loved everything about it. Its location is wonderful, the hotel is located in the heart of Mexico City, very close to the main attractions, public transport stations, shops and restaurants. The room was very clean, well-equipped. The bed was nice and comfortable. The best thing about this hotel is the staff, though. They were super nice, kind and helpful. The most important thing that happened to me is that my flight to Mexico City was early in the morning, I didn’t sleep all night and was super-tired. Although the check-in time was 15:00, the staff member checked me in at 10:00. This was so kind of her and I am very thankful to her for saving a whole day of my short trip. When traveling to Mexico City again, I will choose this amazing and cool hotel again without any doubt.

Exceptional Service and Total Peace of Mind! Hotel: Holiday Inn Express Mexico Basilica (Mexico City) My recent stay was outstanding, primarily due to the truly exceptional staff and the comfort of the hotel. The rooms here are a standout feature: they are large, spacious, and impeccably well-maintained and clean. After long days of travel, it was a real pleasure to return to such a comfortable and quiet space. The staff across all departments were consistently friendly and helpful, setting a wonderful tone for the stay. The complimentary breakfast offers a great variety of hot food, including scrambled eggs and many other delicious options, ensuring a filling start to the day. (My only minor suggestion would be to add croissants to the pastry selection, but the quality of the hot breakfast easily makes up for it!) The Incident that Earned the 5 Stars The true test of this hotel’s commitment came when I made a major mistake: I left my mobile phone behind in their airport transfer van. I called immediately, and the front desk staff went above and beyond. They instantly contacted the driver to check, confirming the phone was found and secured. When I informed them I was already on my way back to the hotel, they ensured the phone was brought to the front desk and safely handed back to me as soon as I arrived. This level of honesty, quick action, and integrity is exactly what gives a traveler complete peace of mind. I highly recommend the Holiday Inn Express Mexico Basilica. This team truly embodies the spirit of customer service! Only the negative is, expect a huge traffic from Airport/ city center to this hotel eventhough the hotel is nearby to airport and city center.

FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

Like any major historical city it has so much to offer.

Like any major historical city it has so much to offer. The city is buzzing with people and there always seems to be something going on in the main square of the Presidential palace. A visit to the Antropological museum is a must along with other local attractions and especially the Belle Artes if there is something on when you are there

Mexico City is the 3rd or 4th largest city in the world.

Mexico City is the 3rd or 4th largest city in the world. There is a lot of poverty visible. We stayed in the Polanco neighborhood which is near to a lot of museums and interesting places. Traveling down to the central historical district about 9 miles away is problematic because of the traffic. Takes forever. We loved the Museum of Anthropology (in Polanco) and we loved the guided tour we took of Teotihucan pyramids which is about 25 miles away but worth it. Our tour guide was Alejandro (Alex) and the tour was sponsored by Airbnb. We highly recommend him. 4 days isn't enough to see everything, obviously. But it's worth going and coming back.

Cannot fathom the pollution, littering and shortage of public transportation, mainly buses, in a cosmopolitan and so beautiful city that is home to millions and receives millions more every day for work and education. Workers are sorely needed every day to sweep, clean, water plants, in a nutshell, maintain the beauty of its parks, streets, and promenades. Traffic is chaotic and unnecessary. We only have to address these peak hours with extra efforts.

Fascinating place.

Fascinating place. I highly recommend beginning your visit with an early morning guided tour+breakfast of the chinampas in Xochimilco, with a company like Arca Tierra that does not use motorized trajineras. The historical perspective in this introduction to CDMX was wonderful. It also sets a more mindful and contemplative framework for the rest of your site seeing. Much respect to the govt and people of Mexico and CDMX for their efforts to preserve and restore pre-colonial history and traditions and archeological sites.

Porter was very friendly. Location was great as I was arriving almost midnight but hotel was right next to the airport connected by the bridge so it was easy to find out and no needed to find a transportation at that time of the day. Room was clean ,no fridge or kettle but you can have a comfortable stay. Good hotel when you have a short stay at Mexico City. Seems room service is also available 24 hours.

This Boutique aparthotel is a wonderful find in the heart of the beautiful Roma neighbourhood in Mexico City. It is located on the beautiful Rio de Janeiro garden. The bed, pillows, towels and linen all first class. Ours came with a kitchenette and window to the Park. It is next door to an impressive “Porfirian” era restaurant and a cafe across the way to have breakfast. A really lovely stay.

It's an airport hotel a few miles from Mexico City airport. As such it serves its purpose. The walls are a bit thin and I could hear the neighbour's phoning home! The bed is comfortable with a range of pillows. Plenty of hot water. Breakfast was adequate with eggs, fruit, yogurt etc as well as a range of typical Mexican breakfast foods, beans, lasagne, avocado etc.
