This amazing feeling of this cozy, historic hotel full of people and incredible hospitality. I was surprised and impressed beyond words. If you’re making a road 51 road trip and looking for a place to stay, this is it. Ignore Beitostølen and come right here
Location is amazing, right outside the lake and these beautiful mountains so high up, above the tree line. It’s so isolated and beautiful, feels like another planet. Very short drive to some incredible hikes, or you can do a walk around the lake. Many options.
Hotel itself is very historic and is such a beautiful and prominent building, I’ve stayed in a single room and it was small but very cozy and beautifully decorated, there was a sink in the room (bathroom is shared) and even a decently sized table / desk. The room is also heated and the view is magnificent.
Parking is free right outside the entrance. All the staff were super friendly, hospitable and friendly. The dinner is available until quite late so you won’t be starving (expensive but worth the experience). Breakfast was good

It was the most comfortable stay on our round trip though Norway! Ingrid & Øyvind are great hosts, thankyou for everything!
Beitostolen is a very good place to stay for exploring Jotunheimen, good infrastructure with supermarkets, fuel stations etc.
We can highly recommend this wonderful place that felt like home and will definitely come back if we travel through this area of Norway again.

Beitostolen is a very good place to stay for exploring Jotunheimen, good infrastructure with supermarkets, fuel stations etc.

The natural beauty of this place is truly beyond explanation...
The natural beauty of this place is truly beyond explanation—breathtaking landscapes and serene views that leave you in awe. However, getting there was quite the challenge. First, we had to take a bus, then a boat, and finally walk the trail. The hike was demanding, especially because much of it was uphill, requiring a lot of effort. Although parts of the trail were easier to manage, the steep uphill sections were tough, and the downhill portions required careful footing.
One area that could be improved is the coordination between the boats and buses. There weren’t enough boats, which made the wait long, and the bus schedules didn't seem to align well with the rest of the journey, causing unnecessary delays. Also, the trail itself could use better maintenance. Certain sections were difficult and confusing to navigate, with little signage to guide the way. Enhancing the trail’s upkeep and providing clearer directions would greatly improve the experience, making the journey as enjoyable as the destination’s natural beauty.

All the way from the airport to Beitostol was just beautiful...
All the way from the airport to Beitostol was just beautiful. The receptionist was waiting for us and she was fast with the check in. The location is great for solo travellers as well as friends or family. There are attractions for kids as well. The supermarket was just across the road and the ski area was about 10 min walk or 3 min by car. Lots of places to eat around. Although , lots of cabins and trailers , the location was really quiet.

A good choice of grocery stores if you self cater, a few restaurants and sport shops if you need to buy extra equipment. The ski school office and ski instructors are really friendly and helpful. It is a small but perfectly formed ski resort!

Centrally located and the checkin was easy and there is also online checkin. The apartment is clean and tidy. The TV have some English channels and I think reasonable and I do not understand Norwegian.

Beitostel was a very beautiful place and I wanted to look around
so I shoud have stayed in Beitostel longer.
But it was the end of my travel and we have to go to Oslo in a hurry.

Ofcourse - like in those places full of rich, trendy, arrogant people not everything is nice. But - I do not care about those people :) I just focus on good people, beautiful surroundings, mountains, nature, good food and chilling out :)

The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, always available to answer all our questions about the place. The spa exceeded our expectations, offering a wonderfully relaxing experience. We had an amazing ski holiday in Beitostølen and would 100% recommend it!

Really nice hotel in the mountains with a special atmosphere from a century ago, very friendly and helpful staff, very clean, and a tasty Nordic breakfast. Also worth to book the evening dinner and upgrade the room category, if available.
