Hotel Yechu is truly one of the finest properties in Bhaktapur. While it is a little farther from Durbar Square, the breathtaking architecture makes it well worth the visit. Though we didn’t get the chance to stay this time, the ambiance and design left a lasting impression. I will definitely choose to stay here on my next visit. Without a doubt, the best property in Bhaktapur!

PolandStaff were so helpful and nice,! Food in the hotel (specially veg mo mo) delicious. I spent there long time and if I'll be in Bhaktapur again for sure I'll choose again this place. Really close to squers and bus station where you can get bus to nagrakot. Thank you! It was great to stay with you 😁

I am an architect working in Heritage Preservation and have worked in the past in Nepal so I can say that Bhaktapur is the best preserved city in Nepal and an outstanding example of a community living their traditions and therefore aware of their own culture identity. It is a city who h teaches everyone how to respect and preserve our own cultural heritage, to be seen at least one in the life!

Durbar Square is mind blowing.
Durbar Square is mind blowing. Good to visit after dark too for different atmosphere.
I visited a few of the Pokhari around the old city.
The river Hanumante was truly shocking with amount of rubbish and putridity. So close to UNESCO which was surprising.

It's been ages since I was in Kathmandu and I hear it's...
It's been ages since I was in Kathmandu and I hear it's gotten busier. Bhaktapur is a laid back option--lots of history and lots of local life at the same time. It's a walking town for travellers and you learn how to instinctively avoid the scooters. Pretty much every building has a rooftop Cafe of some sort and the views are spectacular.
There's a little hustle from guides for hire in Durbar Square but they're pretty knowledgeable and the hustle is very gentle. If you're not interested, you can politely refuse and that will be the end of it.
Given a choice, I'd pick Bhaktapur over Kathmandu as a place to hang out.

Bhaktapur, a great place to look at the culture in your own time , and enjoy without the hussle and bustle of a busy city, great to explore and watch people and especially the locals going about there traditions. Don’t be afraid to walk up allley ways, you may find a surprise, an open space with a religious monument, or children playing , maybe ladies drying rice, at certain time of the year. All in all a great place to study the people and there culture. And don’t forget to Try the King Kurd.

I have been traveling a lot in my life, but I never saw such a beautiful city. Eventhough, the dramatical earthquake , all the buildings and temples have been fixed with the old materiel.
Walking by night in Bhaktapur in those small street is like to be in the middle age. Bhaktapur is a travel through the time.

Tulaja Boutique Hotel couldn't be better located just next to the famous Durbar Square. The rooftop terrace is beautiful and overlooks the whole city and whith good sight you have a mountain view as well. Breakfast will be served by the super friendly team on a comfortable nook in the morning sun. The staff of the hotel is so friendly and polite and made sure to support me in whatever way. The AC functioned as a heater and there was hot water at all times and even a hairdryer in my room.

The staff is incredibly friendly. Nothing is too much to ask to make you feel comfortable or to help you out.. I was lucky to stay here during the Purni worship in November and then you notice how nice it is if you have booked an overnight stay in this hotel and not a day trip from Kathmandu. Bhaktapur is even more beautiful at night. Finally, it is also important to mention that the breakfast is delicious, including: rich muesli and dju dju daun curd. Absolutely recommended.

The Taleju Grand is in a fantastic location a minute walk from Durbar Square. My room was very clean and comfortable and there was plenty of hot water in the shower. There was a good choice for breakfast and I enjoyed sitting on the roof terrace with it's beautiful view. The family that run the hotel are friendly and helpful, they really added to the great experience of staying here. I spent 4 nights here so I definitely recommend it for a stay in Bhaktapur.

A real family hotel: the ambiance is truly relaxed and welcoming. Everyone was so nice and forthcoming it felt like home. The food, both breakfast and dinner and both local as western kitchen, was delicious.
The garden is great and has amazing views. A tour of Bhaktapur by the manager can be booked easily, was individualized and was very informative on local culture and heritage.

We had a really good stay at hotel layaku. Very comfortabel beds (wich is not always common in Nepal), the breakfast has a variety of continental and local food. The staff are absolute sweethearts, the most helpful we came across. Really good value for money. Absolute recommended!
