We chose a resort on Mactan because it was close to Cebu...
We chose a resort on Mactan because it was close to Cebu City and we only had three days at the end of an island hopping cycling tour that finished in Cebu City. Now that we have seen other islands I would recommend that guests take a ferry and go to Bohol or Soquijor islands if they have more than 2 nights stay available. The overall experience will be much nicer , including better beaches and snorkeling.

I was there to complete my scuba training.
In hindsight, I should have gone elsewhere in the Philippines.
The people are very friendly, but they are everywhere in the Philippines.
I would suggest avoiding the island and Cebu city.
You would be better off in Bohol etc. Far more beautiful.

It's a wonderful hotel that you don't need to leave for your stay. It has everything. The staff are world-class and the food is first class. They surprised us when they found out it was our anniversary with a complimentary bottle of wine.

There are so many better places in S/E Asia to go for a nice time at the beach. Mactan is not one of them. I went for the IronMan and would never go for vacation there. Very poor availability of night life, sea and beach are mediocre.

We went to Mactan for a wedding and caught a 'Grab' taxi...
We went to Mactan for a wedding and caught a 'Grab' taxi from the airport to the accommodation for about A$15. We had a room with a view to the sea, but could also see the housing of the locals, which contrasted to the fancy hotels - so sad to see the living conditions of locals. The area where we stayed was rather quiet and was safe for walking without too much traffic.

Great beaches on Mactan Island.
Great beaches on Mactan Island. Also some good nearby attractions like Lapu-Lapu statue, Mactown Newtown, 10,000 Roses Cafe.
You will also find more sites in Cebu city like Fort San Pedro, Magellan's Cross, Sto. Nino Church, Temple of Leah, Sirao Flower Garden, Little Kyoto, and Tops Overlook.

We stayed in Crimson Mactan for 4 nights during our holiday in the Philippines and we absolutely loved it! We had an amazing time. It was the in-laws first time in the Philippines and staying in Crimson made a very good impression to them in which they decided to stay again before flying back to the UK. Great hotel facilities, lovely staff, good food and very relaxing spa experience. The overall vibe of the resort is just absolutely amazing and it feels like being in your oasis/ paradise. We will be back again!

The location itself is good. A budget-friendly old hotel, where you can just sleep overnight comfortably. They have a free hotel transfer to the Mactan Airport. Outlets/Shopping malls and restaurants are just around the corner. No problem with rush shopping. Simple breakfast is fine.
