Staying with Marie Jo and Ludo was an absolute joy! They’re the kindest hosts—thoughtful, warm, and always happy to help. Their lovely home is full of charm and comfort, with the most stunning view of the ocean. It felt like a little slice of France by the sea. I felt completely at home from the moment I arrived. Highly recommend this beautiful stay. Merci beaucoup, Marie Jo!

Loc-Appart SPM is more of a guesthouse or (very upscale) hostel than a private apartment rental. Each ensuite bedroom is private and has a private mini-frig, but the kitchen and lounge are shared. The first two nights we stayed, there was one other couple there and we enjoyed their company at breakfast. We were the only guests when we returned later for a third night. The kitchen was very clean, extremely well stocked (with condiments and spices as well as tableware and cooking utensils), and the appliances were new and upscale. The excellent espresso machine was a treat. Gerard, the manager, took us down to the waterfront to introduce us to Les Zigotos- our interactions with them were the highlight of our visit to SPM He spoke very little English and we speak very little French, but gestures and Google translate did the trick. The location is uphill from restaurants and the harbour, but closer than some of the other inns and very walkable. I'd recommend getting a taxi when arriving from the ferry or airport, but otherwise, none is needed.

Our host went the extra mile. He picked us up at the ferry and drove us to the apartment. He provided fresh croissants and bread and wine to start off our stay.

Comfortable, our host was very communicative and who assisted with our transport, saved us a walk with all our purchases. The walk from the property to town took us by inquisitive seals, a bonus. Any time we had questions our host got back quickly.

Spotlessly clean, quiet, comfortable room and shared bath on second floor. Great wifi and tv. Host Joesette was very welcoming and provided fresh pastries, coffee/tea and juice in the morning . Quiet end of town up the hill and very close to hiking trails.

We decided to visit because we were going to Newfoundland...

We decided to visit because we were going to Newfoundland and we had watched the TV show Saint-Pierre. That is how we learned of the island and decided since we were this close we needed to visit. We booked a couple of tours through Elea Tours which turned out to be exceptional.

We really enjoyed the easy access to nature.

We really enjoyed the easy access to nature. Hiking trails are just outside the town of St Pierre. Île aux Marins is not to be missed, whether as a self guided visit or with a guide. The city tour with Transport Largerie was a great way to get an overview of the town, its panoramic viewpoints and history. The food was overall great and portions were generous. Our favorite place for dinner was Bar A Quai. It is easy to walk everywhere but it is a bit unnerving to walk the narrow streets that lack proper sidewalks with cars driving quite fast. It felt like quite the change compared to Miquelon which is so much less poplulated and much more slow paced!

A lovely little taste of France 90 minutes from Canada.

A lovely little taste of France 90 minutes from Canada. Lots of interesting history and shops. Great food. Don’t leave without visiting a boulangerie for delicious baked goods. If you’re lucky you’ll see seals

The folks on St.

The folks on St. Pierre were friendly and helpful, though not always fluent in English. But it is French after all. Most of the restaurants require reservations. The ferry to Ile Aux Marins is a real bargain.
