Óbidos is a fairy tale city, especially around Christmas when the city is full of lights and decoration. There are lots of shops and restaurants (try Book and Cook and eat surrounded by books) along the main road, a great number of quaint bookstores to explore (for São Tiago Church bookstore, Lee Devagar bookstore where you can also buy vegetables), and castle walls from where the view is stunning.

Liked the history, culture and compact nature for getting around.
The walled town and Obidos castle were highlights. Lots of little outdoor cafes and restaurants to choose from. Close enough proximity to drive to other places for day trips such as Praia Da Foz Do Arelho and Bacalhoa Budha Eden.

A wonderful town to visit!
A wonderful town to visit! Lots of shops with unique gifts, beautiful church, a castle, incredible musicians making the most of the open space and acoustics. LOVED our visit! Restaurants did not disappoint and our stay at Patio House was outstanding! Our hosts were incredible and ensured our stay was memorable and special. We felt very welcomed! Highly recommend making this walled town a stop and linger for a while during any trip to Portugal! The cobblestones and hills are worth it! Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes!

Loved walking the city walls, and walking through the cobblestone streets, lots of shops to mosey in & out of. Good food as well - such a charismatic city “little gem” we got there late & left early so we stayed 2 nights as that only really gave us 1 full day & it’s nice to see at night too!

This town had something for everyone.
This town had something for everyone. There was adventure as we hiked around the town wall, shopping, restaurants, beautiful buildings, and friendly people. My teenagers didn't want to leave. We were also fortunate to have stayed during their medieval festival!

Super-charming old walled town with many wonderful...
Super-charming old walled town with many wonderful restaurants with shops with local artist-made products. Because we stayed overnight, we felt like locals after 3pm when all the tourist buses left and also the following morning. Definitely worth the trip and worth it to overnight.
We walked most of the wall, but it was challenging, uneven steps and no guardrail on most of it, pretty high up. Beautiful, but just be very careful and wear good hiking shoes.

Everything was so pleasant and comfortable. Our room has a spacious deck next to the city's stone walls. A very helpful young man name Ricardo was at the desk and he helped us printing out our boarding passes for a flight we have from Lisbon on the day we checked out. We took the bus to Obidos and the hotel is not far from the bus stop. The breakfast was great, with lots of tasty breads and jams. The street outside is virtually pedestrianized, except for a few cars ... so it's very tranquil.

The hotel is located just 5 mins drive from Obidos, so super convenient but also really quiet and peaceful.
The reception staff were all really friendly and helpful with advice on where to eat and what to see.
The hotel has a minimalist feel. We didn’t try the spa, but enjoyed the good sized outdoor pool.
It was good for a one night stay, so we got to see Obidos by night and day and have a great meal in the old town.
