The Douro Suites' garden peaceful garden, library blend perfectly with the stunning river & region itself.

The staff friendly (even though not all are willing to speak english). The room was perfect with additional sofa for 2 kids. Also we liked parking place very much.

Had an amazing view from my room during my stay.
As it was off season, the hotel was pretty empty, which was not a problem as I was able to get great breakfast and dinner in the property.
There's free parking right next to the hotel.
There are many small towns nearby to get supplies if needed and great opportunities for hiking and exploring.

CanadaThe staff surprised us with cake and a bottle of wine on our arrival (it was my husband's bday). Beautiful hotel, spectacular views, great food, friendly staff, a chef's garden, vineyard and relaxing pools and spa. We enjoyed our time relaxing. What a wonderful treat after walking the camino portugese. The sommelier, Ferminio, was so friendly and kind. We will recommend to friends and family.

CanadaWonderful place! This place is a 15 out of 10! They make every effort to be eco-friendly and sustainable. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the beds and pillows very comfortable but the hidden gems are Juan Diego and Juan Camilo. Juan Diego takes care of the reception duties, arranging tours, all the cooking and many other duties. Juan Camilo is his right hand man and amazing server. We ate all our meals here during our 3-day stay. The dinner menu changes every day, with 2 choices for each of appetizers, mains and desserts. The food was delicious and expertly prepared and served. We felt like we were in a 5-star restaurant. They took care of our every need. It seemed like there was always something delicious available to us, almost all day long. We went on wonderful hikes and walks in the area, rather than drive.

The hotel is situated in a quiet spot which suited us perfectly as we wanted to chill. There’s nothing much to do in the area. If you’re looking for boat trips, wine tours etc it might be better to stay further up river in Pinhao or Porto.

our stay at the Douro Royal resort and spa enhanced our appreciation of the Douro river and valley. we watched sunset from our walk out private balcony. cruise ships sailed by added to the recognition of its popularity. we should have stayed longer to enjoy all that Ribo Douro has to offer. highly recommend.
