The Capital of Old and New
The Saudi Arabian capital, sprawling Riyadh is a mix of historic monuments and ultra-modern skyscrapers. On a plateau surrounded by desert, it is one of the Middle East’s richest cities, so there are several 5-star hotels in Riyadh.
This wealth is also evident in modern architecture, particularly the Kingdom Centre, a perfectly sculpted building looking strangely like a bottle opener. Lit at night, it has an observation deck offering fantastic city views.
On its bottom floor is a shopping mall, and there is another within Al Faisaliyah, the country’s 1st skyscraper. Riyadh is a shopping paradise and yet more malls are on wide, palm-lined King Fahd Road. This king also gave his name to King Fahd Stadium, home of the Saudi football team.
Unusually for a capital, King Khalid International Airport is right in the city centre and there are lots of Riyadh hotels near the airport on Booking.com. South, in Al Murabba, is the King Abdulaziz Historical Centre, site of the Saudi Arabia National Museum. Further south in Dirah is 19th-century Al-Masmak fort with souks and mosques nearby.
Wherever you stay, remember that Saudi Arabia is a deeply Islamic country and that local customs should be respected. Men and women may not be able to access attractions at the same time.

We worked there 30 years ago and our children were both born there, but we left when they were small, so this was a trip down memory lane for us, and an introduction to the kids.
It had changes so much, ( for the better) and we had a wonderful time. We used to love the Shwarmas and the hotel guided us to a brilliant shwarma restaurant that we ate at frequently.

Riyadh is a good city but for solo travelers an advice - do not take private taxis and do your research of the areas for your stay. Not all the areas are safe and pleasant. Especially for women do not indulge into any chats with Taxi drivers and just be cautious while traveling. I learned no place is safe until or unless you are aware of your surroundings and be smart enough to deal with scumbags.

Riyadh is a vast city, very busy, traffic is heavy, however if you choose the right hours, you might be able to avoid being stuck for longer in traffic. Weather was very pleasant, people are welcoming and helpful.

Riyadh it’s a King city historical and very valuable.. to whom like to visit the city you have to be open-minded about the culture and respect they rules.. not everybody speak English there so make sure you know what you want to do (writing down the information) before you going out from your hotel.

Everything was amazing — from the reception staff who quickly fulfilled any request, to the breakfast buffet where both the restaurant staff and the chef did an outstanding job (hats off to the chef!). Even the hotel gym was great and helped me get back into my daily workout routine. The best part? The 24/7 Arabic coffee machine! Plus, the hotel is right in the heart of Riyadh, just a 2-minute walk from King Salman Oasis Station, and close to restaurants and Tamimi supermarket.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was superb, and one of the best bits of our trip. Samir, the hotel manager, was a wonderful host; nothing was too much trouble and he went out of his way to make recommendations to enhance our trip. The staff serving breakfast were very friendly and attentive. A very good base from which to explore Riyadh’s older quarters and newer central business district.

One of the better hotels I was in in Saudi Arabia. Room was great. Specious, clean and well maintained. That’s the problem with hotels in these parts, once great, they are all becoming outdated. You don’t need golden chandeliers to have a good hotel. Staff were great and helpful. The location is what it needs to be in Riyadh-close to the metro station.

What I like the most about this hotel is the location which is matchless. The metro station is just around the corner. This is what really makes a big difference in such a huge city like Riyadh. It was very easy to get from one place to another. Another big plus is the room which was very spacious and comfortable.

Hotel staff and service exceeded my expectations. I only had one night stay as I needed a place not far from the airport, but when I return to Riyadh, I will stay here again. Lujain, Sahar and Hadeel in particular were very professional and helpful.
