PolandAmazing place! A truly relaxing and peaceful stay. The hotel was quiet, comfortable, and perfect for unwinding. We really enjoyed the food — both the breakfast and dinner options were delicious and nicely presented. We also visited the wine bar and the English bar — both had a lovely atmosphere.
One of the highlights was the wellness area. We were lucky to be there when it wasn’t crowded, so we could fully enjoy the swimming pool and all the saunas in peace. Would definitely recommend for a calm and rejuvenating getaway!

PolandVerry helpfull staff, always smiling. There was no problem with leaving the car early in the morning on the check in day. Swimming pool and sauna operating until 10 pm, which was great after a long hike. The same with the restaurant - open until 10pm, there was no need to rush things. We had a verry tasty dinner, and again- staff was verry nice and helpfull (really loved the garlic soup with toasties). No problem with VISA payment (hotel as well as the restaurant). Breakfast - again, no reason to complain. Nice selection available. I'd recomend and probably will come back. Regards 😊

DenmarkOur stay at Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The staff took care of parking our car and even made sure our electric vehicle was charged, which was a thoughtful touch. While we settled in, we were welcomed with a glass of Kempinski sparkling wine, a perfect way to begin our stay.
The atmosphere throughout the hotel was incredibly inviting, with a lovely scent that added to the overall experience.
The level of service was outstanding – every staff member was professional, attentive, and genuinely focused on making our stay as enjoyable as possible. When we were escorted to our room, we were pleasantly surprised to find a personal letter from the General Manager, which made us feel truly valued.
The room itself was gorgeous, with beautiful wooden furnishings that gave it a luxurious feel. The quality of everything – from the furniture to the bedding – was top-notch, and we couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable stay.
We also had the pleasure of dining at the hotel restaurant, where I especially appreciated that the staff asked about any food allergies or intolerances upfront. As someone who can’t have lactose, this attention to detail was much appreciated. The food was absolutely delicious.
The wellness area was incredible, offering stunning views of the lake and mountains. With saunas, a pool, a hot tub, and exceptionally comfortable lounge chairs, it was the perfect place to unwind. They even offered drinks and snacks in the spa, which was a thoughtful bonus.
In the evenings, the lobby bar, with its large fireplace, created the perfect atmosphere to relax. The reception staff were also incredibly accommodating, allowing us to enjoy a later checkout, which made our departure much more relaxed.
All in all, this wasn’t just a stay – it was an unforgettable experience. I would rate the Kempinski Hotel Tatra Mountains a solid 10/10 and highly recommend it.

I was up in the mountains so didn't see much of the towns. I got the little train up from Stary Smokoviec and went for shopping in Strbske Pleso. Neither town appeals to me but Popradske Pleso is gorgeous. One of my favourite places in the Tatras.

A beautiful village at the foot of the Tatras by a beautiful lake. In the vicinity of the ski slope, many trails for walking and cycling. There are several hotels, restaurants and shops by the lake. An ideal place for a few-day trip, both in winter and summer.

Great trails, both half-day or full day, from moderate to slightly challenging (especially for anyone with mobility issues). Skok waterfall trail is terrific. Jamske Pleso trail is flatter and less rough, but we did see a common viper on the trail and fresh bear poo!
The trail around Strbske Pleso lake itself is very enjoyable and scenic.
Furkotka restaurant (opposite Hotel Toliar) and Koliba Patria restaurant overlooking the lake we're terrific value and lovely food. Lary Fary cafe was a nice midday stop-off too, lovely hot chocolate and tea.

Strbske pleso itself is too touristy and developed.
Strbske pleso itself is too touristy and developed. The real value of this location is all the hiking that's possible in the area. The nature here is stunning. An easy one hour hike will take you to another lake called Popradske pleso and a further 90 minute hike (a bit more difficult) from there will take you to the largest lake Velke Hincovo pleso. That area is beautiful. It looks like something from The Lord of the Rings. There is also a great restaurant in Strbske pleso called Furkotka with great food and service.

- The breakfast was great with a good variety.
- The room was pleasant and very clean, the sound proofing was pretty good, we didn't hear much from the neighbours.
- Do not worry that it is close to the train station, the train is silent.
- Location is great, it is a 10 min walk to the lake, 20 min to the ski-lift. Strbske Pleso in general is an awesome place to stay - it is small, not very crowded with both people and hotels, but extremely cute.
- There is a ski bus stop right outside the hotel, if you dont want to walk.

Apartment offers superior accommodation close to the ski resort and in the centre of Strbske pleso. Private parking near the building. Apartment has a separate bedroom, a living room with a kitchenette and a bathroom. The kitchen has basic equipment. The apartment is cozy, during the winter warm enough.

The hotel is close to all hiking trails which was the most important factor for us. It's just few minutes walk from train station with lots of great restaurants around and Strbske Pleso nearby. The room was spacious and hotel provided high quality of service, we are very happy.
