GermanyVery Clean and modern room and bathroom. The Host a french speaking man is very friendly and helpful. (Made me Coffee in the morning and drove us to a Restaurant he recommends). The Host have a few rules you have to go along, which all make sense to keep the stunning quality of his room.
You really get a lot comfort for a moderate price: perfect bed(!!!) and Sheets, perfect Toilette, perfect bathroom e.g.)

United KingdomWe stayed in the newest rooms 11c which are amazing and worth the little bit extra; would liken to a 5* hotel, the bathroom is huge, freestanding bath and double shower. It's extremely clean and the bed is the most comfortable so far in a hotel setting.
The setting is lovely amongst trees with chickens free roaming. Cockerel noise in the mornings but I love that having raised chickens! Staff will clean room on request but no need for us. Lady still leaves water, crisps, tea/ coffee and coke regardless; which is a nice touch. We saw the smaller rooms which were slightly cheaper and again furnished to the high standard just smaller.
Cheaper rooms available again but furnishings more dated. Location to pier is excellent but don't bypass this little place just for Samet island as Bamphe is lovely too.
Nice bars and eating places nearby at good prices.
Beaches extremely relaxed, eating places on beach but not thumping music just relax mode. We are still here as extended our stay it's so beautiful.

The area is perfect for a peacefull holiday. We did not have enough time to explore everything in the area. I avoid the heavily tourist areas on purpose so can't comment. I went for a quiet family holiday and that was fulfilled.

Nice location bedween Rayong an Klaeng. A good place to relaxe and very children friendly. Many different restaurants availible , a long and nice beach and many things to explore. Great location to make a short or long holiday.

We decided to stay in Ban Phe to break up a long journey. It is not a tourist town and there is not a great deal to do. It is a busy little port and geared up mainly for trips to Koh Samet island which is beautiful but very busy.

Makmai Villas was a great place to spend a while (we were there a week). The hotel owners are WONDERFUL, they were incredibly helpful in arranging a scooter hire and onward bus to Bangkok. The room was cleaned every day, with fresh towels and at least 3 new sets of bedding during the week, above and beyond! In fact, Makmai was the cleanest place we stayed in our 2 month trip through Thailand. The wifi was great, accessible from all areas, perhaps even from the beach, which is located directly in front of the guest house.

The view was absolutely stunning! There’s a beach which is basically a part of the resort, and the pier offers lovely views too. It was also easy to get to Koh Samet, and you are able to book this via the resort. The service was also brilliant, they really made the place feel like home.
