I think three days were just right for the stay.
I think three days were just right for the stay. One day around Sidi Bou Said area, one day in the Tunis medina and one day in Bardo museum and archeological sites. I missed Bardo museum because it is closed on the Mondays. Taxi drivers try to rip off tourists as normal. Negotiate 50% or less of the asking price.

Avenue Habib Bourguiba is an interesting stroll down the pedestrian centre to the clock tower.
Bardo Museum is well worth visiting. As are Carthage and Sidi Bou Said outside of Tunis.

I spent 16 days in Tunisia, of which, 14 days with a tour group visiting the entire country. In Tunis I loved Carthage, I enjoyed visiting the Bardo National Museum, the Phoenician, Punic and Roman excavation sites.

Favourite Places to Visit:
1- Bab el Bhar & the Old Medina Markets – Wander through the historic alleys and vibrant souks. You’ll find amazing handmade crafts, local perfumes, and the famous Tunisian jasmine scent.
2- Zitouna Mosque – A must-see landmark! Just note it opens at 3:00 PM, so plan your visit accordingly.
3- Sidi Bou Said – A charming coastal village with white-and-blue architecture and breathtaking sea views.
4- Hammamet– Perfect for a beach day. The sands and turquoise water are stunning.
5- Tunis City Mall (Géant) – Great for shopping or a quick escape from the heat.
6- Coco Beach – A hidden gem that feels like the Maldives of Tunisia—absolutely beautiful and worth the trip

If you are a history fan and like monuments or beaches, this will be your favorite destination.
BUT
There are some unmentioned rules:
1. Bargaining (the prices are higher than they should be, so do not forget to bargain)
2. NEVER buy anything from the stalls outside of monuments. They usually sell tooooo expensive, even if you bargain to a quarter of the price, it is still expensive.
I had a very bad experience, unfortunately.
3. Be careful with your pockets and be aware of using your phone in the streets.
4. The prices in the cartage land are very good for buying handicrafts.
5. You can use ''Louage'' to transport to other cities. Not modern but very affordable.

Tunis is a pleasant city to visit, among others due to its friendly inhabitants. The Bardo Museum is a must-see whereas places such as Cathago and the other coastal areas of the city are worth visiting. The Medina was a bit run down, yet it was enchanting and it felt safe.
If I had to mention one disadvantage when it comes to Tunis, that would be the limited variety in cafes and bars, which turns dining into the main activity for the evening.

Locarno is fabulous for the Medina & exploring Tunis Our host Khalid was beyond wonderful He advised us where to visit what to see where to eat and was so helpful Youdsef the taxi driver from airport and then later further on our trip was so kind helpful & caring a total delight!
